Surprised Chico Hamilton hasn't been mentioned on here. Died yesterday aged 73

His passing has its own thread in on topic which I dare say has diverted a lot of the conversation.

He’s before my time so I feel somewhat removed from the discussion.

Regardless, condolences to his family, it would seem he was around during what must have ultimately been a great turnaround for the club.

Well it was sort of a "great turnaround" but actually didn't work out that well. The Doc signed Chico from Southend IIRC where he had arrived from Chelsea as a player with great potential. Villa were red hot favourites to go up out of the old 2nd Division with Docherty but lost the first home match of the Season to Norwich and ultimately went down. Chico could be a bit mercurial (IMO) but on his day was brilliant. RIP

Olympic gold medal winning swimmer David Wilkie, 70.

Remember him from I was a kid and he did the public information learn to swim adverts in the late 70s/early 80s but I'd imagine he'll be most remembered for the below.

Saw him live at the Plaza in Handsworth 1964 ish. Had two other great records " I Don't know Why I Love you but I Do"  and (I think) "You Always Hurt The One You Love". He was excellent.

Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, of Super Size Me fame. Only 53.

That's really sad, I really liked his work and he seemed like a decent man.  Cancer is a word removed.

I didn't realise that until earlier this week. And also, a self admitted sex pest.

Awful story. Had a big breakout victory on tour just last year after a long period of issues with alcohol, depression, and anger management. Really looked like he had turned a corner. 😢
