Race for Champions League - 2023/2024

With a lot of football to be played there will be a lot more twists and turns. We've been in much better positions than this previously before complacency has set in and it's all fell apart. Not saying that will happen but we ideally need to be in the mix around Jan/Feb to really be in with a shout. Right about now it's just about one game at a time and trying to improve.

If you look at our form for 12 months we have to be in that conversation.  A bit like the calendar year 1998. If 1998 was a season we would have won the league.

oh true, I just don't want them to be talking about us :crylaugh:

This all said, it's very hard not to have very good vibes right now. Teams come and go, and right now, for the next year or two will be peak Emery with Villa. Maybe longer, but we're very much in ascent mode, and we have so many of the right tools in place, there's not an obvious banana skin to long term establishing ourselves up at the top. Very exciting. But Saying that does not make me immediately feel we'll lose our next match. Old habits etc.

It's actually scary to think how much better we are going to get under Emery once him and Monchi have another few transfer windows under their belt.  Exciting times.

Sky will be in full panic mode

Would you bet against our BMW ? ( Bailey | Moussa | Watkins )

May be an image of 2 people, people playing football, people playing American football and text

I am desperate for a catchy nickname for our main attackers. Best attack in the PL has to have a nickname. Thems the rules.

Shame Ollie doesn't spell his name with a Y because then they could have been the Y-front(s) :crylaugh:

Arsenal, West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Man United all play this midweek in the league cup

Going out to Everton was blessing in disguise, Nice long week preparation going into the Forest game.

Absolutely, offsets the addition of European fixtures a little

Just think of this.

We'll probably be mathematically safe from the drop before Christmas.

According to Opta we have roughly the same chance of winning the league (0.5%) as finishing 11th or lower (0.6%).

We also already have 5 more points than we did during our entire relegation season. And just to take a random example, in Lambert's first season here we were still only on 21 points after 25 games as late as early February.

Emery's done such a phenomenal job with us already.

Based on an earlier post of avg UCL point totals to qualify (69pts) for top4 in the prem...  Villa only need to avg 1.68 points/game for the remaining 28 matches to finish with 69 points.  1.7pts/game for 70 points.

Well below UE average with Villa during his career.  We are qualifying for UCL this season.  Book it. 🤣
