Guendouzi would suggest we haven’t been successful in landing our number one target, in my view. Feel like there was a bit of an attitude problem at Arsenal though - didn’t leave on the best of terms?

He was 19. Some people grow up.

Guendouzi isn't really a DM these days I don't think, he seems to be playing more as an eight for Marseille and sometimes even as an attacking midfielder, he's also played out wide for them, so there would be plenty of scope for him to fit into our team, probably the type of all round midfielder that we could with.

Mattéo Guendouzi has a concrete contract offer from a PL club, whose name has not filtered. The discussions have accelerated lately. No offer has been made to OM for the moment, but the club suspects Aston Villa.

Yes please.

This would be a great signing.

Young and would bring great energy and presence to our midfield.

Aston Villa could make a January transfer swoop for Matteo Guendouzi, according to reports coming out of France.

The Marseille midfielder has a 'concrete' offer from an unnamed Premier League club this month and discussions over a potential move have accelerated, according to L'Equipe.

Though, while there is no mention of which English top-flight club have made an approach to sign Guendouzi, his club, Marseille suspects that it is Villa. The Ligue 1 side have not received an offer from the team, but Guendouzi has been sent a contact offer.

Villa boss Unai Emery signed Guendouzi for Arsenal when he was the manager of the Gunners back in 2018. The French midfiedler joined Arsenal from Lorient in the same summer Emery arrived at the Emirates to take over from Arsene Wenger.

Guendouzi made a total of 66 appearances under Emery while at Arsenal, with only Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Bernd Leno and Sokratis picked to play more times.

Marseille signed Guendouzi on a permanent basis last year for just €11 million after he impressed in the OM midfield alongside Boubacar Kamara while on a season-long loan. He featured at the World Cup for France but only featured once.

With Unai just signing up people in his phone contacts, Lange can focus on shortening the bomb list: Guilbert, Nakamba, Sanson, Dendoncker plus loanees Bednarek & Augustinsson.

I wouldn't sell Dendoncker even after Sunday!!
