I really don’t think Emery would have taken the job at Villa to manage a sell to buy policy or little backing by the owners for the players he wants.

Gerrard wasn’t allowed to spend too much for a reason so I’m in no doubt Emery will be given the funds to buy whoever he wants and in the summer again.

I’d expect maybe one, if not two more effective midfielders to be signed plus a forward. FB positions may also be looked at with several players sold or pushed out on loan with a view to buy.

Not sell to buy, but sometimes refreshing or resetting the squad can have merit.  For example, would be open to selling Ings and bringing in a striker who can press a bit more.

Correct. Not a chance.

I do think we could do with another No.8 eventually though, as we're a bit light there as illustrated by us having to play Cash in midfield with McGinn and Ramsey out, just the two specialist options not really enough, even with Iroegbunam to come back we could sill do with another, it's not just about squad numbers either, ideally an upgrade on McGinn would be good.

Yes, but still, where are the goals going to come from? We can't ascend the table if we don't up the scoring rate somehow. I don't see a box-to-box man changing our finishing, but just perhaps increasing our chances to not finish. More chances to blow the shot. We're at only 20 goals this season, five more than Everton and Southampton. Must do better.

We might need more goals, but that doesn't change the fact that we could also do with a box-to-box midfielder this window or the next, we can sign both a midfielder and strengthen the attack. Besides box-to-box midfielders can often be goal scorers, as is the case with Ramsey, and might be a quality we're looking for in any addtions we add to that area, Conor Gallagher might be a good option.

Mentioned him loads already but Kokcu would be another good option

are there any actually reputable sources saying we are close to signing Moreno?

I’d rather we went for Truffert who was mentioned as a secondary option to Moreno

I was thinking Yunus Musah would be a good option, but given we've already got Bogarde, Iroegbunam, and Aaron Ramsey as young midfielders with Jacob not being much older, we might want to go for someone a little more experienced. Looks a great player though, have actually been impressed with him after seeing him play both as a winger and as a central midfielder, strange that when he plays on the wing he doesn't look like a midfielder playing out wide, and when he plays in midfield he doesn't look like a winger playing in midfield.

Juve have been trying to get rid for a while.  If he is nowhere near good enough for them then we shouldn’t be looking at him either

14 starts from 22 games this season doesnt sound like a team happy to get rid of him

Juve have been linked to Dendoncker before he joined us…

Dendoncker has already played for Wolves this season so cant play for a 3rd team

McKennie has played in eleven of Juventus' fifteen league games this season and five of their six Champions League games, the one he missed he was injured, so I doubt he's nowhere near good enough for them.

Doesn't really matter though as apparently there's no concrete interest from us in him.

Not so useless after all 👏🏽🙃
