Yes and No. if you get big money for that talent and spend it wisely you can be successful. Look at Spurs and how much they kicked ok after selling Bale.  Liverpool after selling Coutinho.

Nowt wrong with selling players if you get silly money and reinvest it all. Plenty of talent out there.

They'd largely got the best out of those players before selling them. What happened after couldn't be scripted, but looking at how they performed after being sold you wouldn't say that the selling clubs missed them.  Also exemplified by what the clubs have gone on to achieve without them.

For us, Grealish may be in a similar category, depending on how he performs next season.

But your seeing it with Carney, and you'll see it with others.  We don't have enough games to keep fringe/prospects happy. We don't have any silverware we're competing for to solidify the feel good factor. We had the youngest (or 2nd youngest) average age in the league.

Going back to the original cause of the debate....We needed some experienced signings. Calling it a concern at this moment in time is missing the target by miles.

We do need to be careful we don't spend all our money on no resale players, but the fact is we haven't.  Kamara was free and will be worth 50m+. Carlos will still have resale value in 3 years time.

Our next midfield signing has to be over 25, probably over 27....as it stands the best midfield 3 we have includes a 22 year old Kamara and a 21 year old Ramsey.

Who'd thought we would be touring Australia with the same midfield that have struggled for the 2/3 seasons. + Kamara

Recession is truly here

The midfield isn’t that bad, it just lacked presence and a proper DM. We now have the missing part. Ramsey is only part of last season and he’s developing. Luiz played a small amount of games in his position. Look at some of the last couple games, he was really good.
Nakamba will be an ok backup. We could do with one upgrade had we sell Sanson. But we have to get Kamara Calibre or just wait until the opportunity is right. Keep getting the likes of Sanson every window will take us nowhere, he’s not bad but even if he was better than what we have, it’s not much difference.

Why do we want Chuk and Tim play? It’s not their immediate impact but the potential they could fulfill. But for established players we know their limits. The last thing we need now is to buy for the sake of it.

The manager has been quoted as saying he intends to sign another CM.

Would love tielmans but only reason he comes to us is for money - do we want that ? He’d be silly to leave Leicester for us currently - especially when he’s on a free next summer. Be happy to be proved wrong but think it’s another pipe dream

No logical reason he would come here it's insane on the face of it

If I remember correctly, Spurs did a terrible job of spending the Bale money. They just got lucky as the big 6 wasn't formed/established at that point and Harry Kane came through, effectively for nothing. Liverpool, however, did spend the PC money very well and strategically.

Or to spin it another way.

Who would have thought that with half of the transfer window still remaining that we would have strengthened our midfield with one of the most sought after young players in Europe. And got him on a free to boot?

Yes please

I assume we convinced Kamara based mainly on money and I’m ok with that.
