Indigo
I've nothing against Ashley Young and am happy Villa signed him back but I will cry if I see him being played in midfield again.

That will never happen. Gerrard will want energetic and high pressing midfielders.
troon_villan
From the official site: Brighton’s Danny Welbeck has scored five Premier League goals against Aston Villa, his most against any opponent. He has scored in each of his last four league starts against Villa, with his last four such goals all coming at Villa Park. Honestly, how the tf did we become that team?

MWARLEY2
Maybe there will be a suprise. Iroegbunam or Carney. I think that if both Luiz and Nakamba are out then it would be Tim who would suit the DM role with Mcginn and Jacob playing ahead of him. But he might go with Ash for the experience. Who knows but will be good to know how he sets up . Havent been this excited to see a team sheet in a long time

sidcow Posted November 19, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted November 19, 2021 So sick of our injury problems. Another international break comes and goes with nothing changed. Our midfield is going to be pitiful. Steve better get himself registered pdq.

A few players have that with us. With the likes of Lampard and Gerrard having that sort of record, it’s nothing mystical. While they were playing, Villa were the weakest mainstay of the league. If, I don’t know, Baggies or someone were in the top flight as often, it would be them with that sort of record. Circling the drain for so many years between 2010 and 2016 helped with these sort of stats. I bet Sunderland are near the top for players favourite opposition teams in this regard. I was mildly surprised to see that’s the case with Welbeck, but only mildly.

Their goalie is suspended and looks like both of their backup goals have never played a game for them before or played in this league.. This gives me encouragement. This is Aston Villa. The unknown untested keeper will make a stream of world class saves and well you know it.

VillaChris
Was reasonably confident on this but midfield going to be a complete mess yet again by sounds of it. I'd stick Axel in as DM and hope for the best with Konsa back after his ban. Then McGinn playing more disciplined role to help out and one of Ramsey/Carney. Not great really. Young possibly in midfield as DM would sum up our season so far.
Flynnchin84
Not sure if this is allowed, so I apologise in advance if this post gets removed… But, would anyone here like to swap an upper trinity ticket for a holte / north ticket? I really don’t expect much success here but worth a shot

Tbf it's not entirely surprising when you consider that we're one of the worst of the Premier League ever-presents/nearly ever-presents. Most teams simply aren't in the Premier League for such a sustained period of time to become *that* team for players.
