Popular Post useless Posted July 19, 2023 Author Popular Post Share Posted July 19, 2023 At QPR he was much better when he had more of an attacking role as box-to-box midfielder, and of course it helped that they were playing better as a team back then, was so good that he actually looked better at Championship level than he did playing for our U21s, which is some feat as the jump between the two is massive, was probably one of the best midifelders in the Championship up until around Christmas. He wasn't as bad second half of the season as is sometimes made out, was just playing in a more reserved role in a position where midifelders don't stand out as much as it's more their job to keep things simple, players in that role can often come in for unfair criticism, even more so when the team as an whole is struggling, and would have been doubly worse for Iro as a young player on loan from another team. From what I saw second half of the season he was fine, steady enough wthout looking amazing, but didn't look out of place, which doesn't sound great perhaps, but for a young player in their first season at senior level, and at a level as high as the Championship is actually a good sign, if he'd have started the season like that and continued, I think it would have been deemed a succesful loan, but because he had that really good first half to the season, the second half looks poorer than it was by comparison. 4 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I thought he might stay with the squad this year along with Archer and Aaron Ramsey and as a trio play most the cup games and conference league. We have four senior centre midfielders going and it's unlikely Tim would get a game. He is better off staying here and training (unless a loan move is about to happen). useless Posted July 20, 2023 Author Share Posted July 20, 2023 He's got more of a future here than half of those, hence if he was fit or not going out on loan, he would have gone to US tour and got game time. In Emery system he can also play central midfield and as a wide midfielder, in fact he played a lot of games for QPR in a similar position that Jacob Ramsey plays for us, that is as a left sided midfielder. AndyClarke Posted July 20, 2023 Share Posted July 20, 2023 (edited) The beauty of this is that we are in no rush, he is easily Championship level so can get in any team who might be interested, similar situation with AJ. The days of teenagers and 20 year olds in the upper echelons of the Premier League are dwindling and only for the very best of the best. Loan him out again, another 40 games at the top of the Championship then decide next summer if he displaces one of the stunning midfield players we've had since Unai arrived.
