They won't have a choice. It's either that or let their people starve.

So they do have a choice. They rejected it.

I would like to think this will result in a swing to the left. But who are we kidding?

The papers will suck Boris' dick, praising him for how amazingly he's handled it. They'll find a way to blame the state of the NHS on Labour and talk about how incredible it is that Boris has got us through this in spite of the damage Labour has done in the past.

I bet the Tories come out of this better than ever.

Universal Basic Income is unlikely to go away as serious political issue in western countries after the bailouts.

Looking beyond the UK the political ramifications are obvious: revolutions and war, all over the shop.

I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be a white South African in a few months, for example.

Italy also might give serious consideration to punting EU membership, there’s fury at Germany’s decision to block medical exports as they’ve wrestled to control  the outbreak in Lombardy.

In every country this will be a defining event that shifts the paradigm of ‘normal’ politics. What comes next is anyone’s guess at this point.

Seriously, can you imagine if Labour had won and Corbyn was in charge now?

It wouldn't even be virus stuff in the news it would relentless hammering of Corbyn every single day.

Yep. It would be insane. All this "we need to come together behind the politicians" wouldn't be happening if it was Corbyn.

I've even seen people on social media saying stuff like "It's just as if Corbyn was in charge". Blaming a hypothetical Corbyn government for something that's happening right now under an actual Conservative government.

Corbyn would have laid his hands on everyone and cured them so the virus wouldn’t be in the news

Touch them?! Don't think he would, he'd probably have taken sensible advice to social distance and not tell everyone herd immunity was the best way to go.

I hope the people don't forget who is going to get the country through the next few months. The public service workers who are shit on by the government, mocked and slandered in the media whenever they demand better conditions and abused far too often by members of the public.

I hope this leads to real change in just how public workers are seen and treated.

But it won't. Love island will be back on. Premier league will be back and in 12 months time no one will give a shit.

I think the inevitability that all this shit leads to nothing changing is the saddest part.

On the one hand, its a real shame they’ve got such a majority and potentially years in power even after this shit is under control. They will have years to form the narrative.

On the other hand, to vote them out, you’d need an opposition that isn’t taking so long to choose a leader that civilisation ended half way through the process.

I don't even care if they're voted out. It would just be nice if when it's all over they do the right thing for the people who are playing a big part in getting us through this. This is a chance for the tories to move away from their extremes to get Brexit done and recognise mistakes of the past.

I have little faith.

It's like Guilianni in NY.

A piece of shit but was in charge during 9/11 and hailed as a hero during it.

Yep, I’m in the same boat.

But 2 metres away.

Which is another point actually, what with our rampant brexit mentality, I wonder how many average middle aged people that think we can beat a pandemic with a pint and a bog roll, how many know what 2 metres looks like.

I’ve mostly had people hailing Boris as a saviour whilst a few months ago dismissing Corbyn as a commie for proposing far less radical socialist methods.  I’m not really sure they actually know what a commie is though, they just read it.
