I think I have got the title wrong, it may have been How Wonderful You Are with references to Harrys Bar. It was a top 10 hit a few years ago. A pleasant ditty - but not exactly driving jazz funk. Of all the big name prog bands of that era (Yes, Genesis, ELP, Tull, etc.), King Crimson are the ones whose music has held up best, IMO. I still play the mid-70s three-album run of "Lark's Tongues in Aspic", "Starless and Bible Black" and "Red" fairly frequently.

mjmooney Posted October 20, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted October 20, 2020 (From Facebook): Statement on the passing of Spencer Davis: I’ve known Spencer since I was about 13–he would have been about 22. I was playing a show at Birmingham University with my brother and his band. Spencer who was a student at Birmingham, was playing with a small group of musicians. We met and the the seeds of The Spencer Davis Group were sown. Spencer was an early pioneer of the British folk scene, which, in his case embraced folk blues, and eventually what was then called “Rhythm and Blues”. He influenced my tastes in music, he owned the first 12-string guitar I ever saw, and he was taken with the music of Huddie “Lead belly” Ledbetter, and Big Bill Broonzy. I’d already got a big brother who influenced me greatly, and Spencer became like a big brother to me at the time. He was definitely a man with a vision, and one of the pioneers of the British invasion of America in the sixties. I never went to the U.S. with Spencer, but he later embraced America, and America embraced him. I feel that he was influential in setting me on the road to becoming a professional musician, and I thank him for that. Thank you, Spencer. - Steve Winwood

Chindie Posted October 22, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted October 22, 2020 Randi was a great bloke. The look on the face of a hoaxer who claimed he had telekinesis when Randi rocked up and copied his 'power' is superb. And his long running battles with Uri Geller were brilliant. RIP, Honest Liar.
Seat68
Randi was the best. As a kid I loved him and with Youtube I regularly revisit his debunking.
Popular Post Chindie Posted October 22, 2020 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted October 22, 2020 Quote One of Mr. Randi’s most celebrated investigations was that of Mr. Popoff. A California preacher who professed to heal the sick, Mr. Popoff had a wide following on television and radio. He drew large crowds at revival meetings around the country, at which he called upon audience members by name and correctly identified their afflictions. In 1986, The Los Angeles Times reported, his average gross income was $550,000 a month. That year, Mr. Randi planted an accomplice with a radio scanner and a tape recorder at one of Mr. Popoff’s public meetings. The scanner picked up Mr. Popoff’s wife relaying information previously gleaned about audience members into a small receiver hidden in his ear. “Popoff says God tells him these things,” Mr. Randi told U.S. News & World Report in 2002. “Maybe he does. But I didn’t realize God used a frequency of 39.17 megahertz and had a voice exactly like Elizabeth Popoff’s.” NYT 2

Straight faced, ever the professional broadcaster but boy what a (not so) private life. Cocaine, Hookers, wearing lingerie and a dungeon orgy.
