If I was voting purely on principles I'd have to vote Liberal Democrat. Voting tactically I think I'll have to hold my nose and Labour tbh.

I can't wait to get a knock at the door from the Labour canvassers though. I'll be telling them I'm not interested in what they have to say on schools or the NHS. All those things rely on having an economy that's not in the toilet because some people decided they hate foreigners more than they like being employed.

They appear to be going with the slogan "Britain Deserves Better".

Which for an incumbent Prime Minister leading a party that's been in Government for nine years shows a peculiar lack of self-awareness.

You'd think so, but it's all part of the game that Johnson isn't really just a Tory, he's facing off against an evil Parliament that defies the people.

Which is bollocks, but hey, he's got funny hair.

it'll be labour here. Anna McMorrin has been a pretty good vocal Remain MP, so whilst in a magical hypothetical scenario I'd like to possibly vote differently I'll be sticking with Labour. It's a high marginal seat between tory and labour so no chances can be taken.

The biggest hope for getting the Conservatives/Brexit Party smashed outta the park is if they pass the legislation for under 18s to get a vote, then you'll get a million votes which aren't conservative/brexit party led.

Could be a gamer changer, unless I've missed some news since yesterday afternoon (I know time was very short for it to be passed in time).

As for me?  I don't know, probably Green because I like trees.

Shot down already.

Best thing to do to win this from a remain perspective is to actively campaign for The Brexit Party in Lib Dem/Tory marginals.

Where I live (Tamworth) it looks like a fairly safe Torie seat (which is a shame).

Quote

Summary: 2017 and changes 2015–2017

Candidate Party Votes Vote (%) Change (%)
Christopher Pincher Con 28,748 61.0 11.0
Andrew Hammond Lab 16,401 34.8 8.7
Jenny Pinkett * LD 1,961 4.2 1.1
* Candidate lost their deposit

The "candidate lost their deposit" did make me laugh though. Did she hire some table tennis bats and lost the ticket?

boring answer is it's related to percentage of the vote share I think? Judging by that, cut off might be less than 5%

How many 16 year olds are marching on Parliament demanding a vote  ? I'm not even convinced you'd get most of them off their X-Box long enough to go and vote  ...

16 year old me wouldn't have known what i was voting for ,  not even sure 18 year old me would have known for that matter

there does seem to be a confidence that 16 & 17 year olds would vote ABT though , hopefully the next Tory government can do something about the brainwashing of our children by left wing teachers  :P

I reckon as many teenagers are as prone to copy their parents ( left or right ), or just want to **** things up for the lols and rebel against leftie friends, if they bother to vote. I think the sense of advantage to leftie parties is exaggerated. Pulling a figure completely out of my arse, I reckon it wouldn't be more than 6 in 10 young voters voting labour or lib dems.

Isn't there solid evidence out there which proves that until a certain age, we're all "socialists"?

It's only money/objects which move us to conservatism.

I also made sure I voted as soon as I was 18, because it was a new thing I was "allowed" to do.

I didn't know who to vote for, so I did one of those political scale things, and went with that.

I think you'd be surprised at how many young people would vote if given the chance.  If we could ever get voting done via mobile phones, you'd see a huge increase in votes casted.

You'll probably have a Brexit Party candidate robbing votes from Tory/Labour.

Your best chance of avoiding a Tory, is a Labour vote, unfortunately.

On QI one time  the answer to "What's the first thing labour supporters do if they win the lottery"  ....  was  "vote conservative "  , and this level of hypocrisy probably rings true  , but I'm not sure about we are all socialists until a  certain age .. I'd imagine it would be influenced by your background and upbringing and most of England is Tory in the main , so that young people tend to be socialist adds weight to my teachers brainwashing children theory :D

Hopefully Corbyn has put a marker down today as to where Labour are going to focus this election campaign. In PMQ's he has attacked the Tories dire handling of the NHS over the last 9 years. A and E waiting times, time it takes to get to see a GP,  that over 4 million are waiting for operations, cancer treatment targets not being met, cutting of 15k hospital beds, increasing privatisation etc etc. Johnson really struggled as you can't defend the indefensible.

The Tories are basically running on a ticket of vote for us to get Brexit and we'll also reverse some of the devastation we have inflicted over the last 9 years. If Labour focus minds and broaden the discussion to those wider issues of failing and underfunded public services, child poverty, lack of housing, homelessness, number of people in insecure work and in work poverty, then they can do well in this election.

Labour, although in my constituency that is a protest vote. I have considered Lib Dems because they're remain, but they're equally a protest vote, nationally and locally.

I've just seen that Boris Johnson is using the slogan "Britain deserves better". Perhaps one of his aides should remind him that the Conservatives have been in government for the last 9 years, not the opposition.

I can see Labour and the Lid Dems using that slogan as much as their own efforts.

it's an interesting gamble , I mean one way or another everyone is talking about Brexit  ... I'm not hearing people by the water fountain talking about NHS waiting lists  or how long it took them to see their GP
