This slow build up isn't really suited for him, he's much better when he can run and carry the ball but he seems to hold a lot/drift inside while Moreno does the running into space.

I think he’d work in a midfield 3 driving forward or arriving late for a strike for a more traditional 433 but he can’t work well within a double pivot and seems out of position in the half space further forward.

Will have to learn this new trade otherwise will be a squad player or shipped out to a better fit.

88.4% passing accuracy from 43 passes and 3 key passes, 3 tackles and yet he was poor allegedly. He was a 6.5/10 as has been mentioned above . That doesn’t mean he’s had a poor game it’s just a solid performance.

Seems if a player doesn’t have an 8/10 or higher he’s classed as poor.

Almost irrelevant. We lost some attacking momentum on a few occasions because he couldn't think quick enough.

Plays well with Moreno

Thought he was fine today. Buendia and Bailey were the issues today imho.

Never a penalty though

I think the issue was we played against an opponent that played a low block at home and we couldn’t break them down. Having said that we still created enough chances to score.

Only if their names Jacob or Leo to be honest. Neither were amazing but you’d think they both had the worst game of their lives based on the reaction around here. McGinn was the only stand out player on our team today but even he has had plenty of ok performances in the past but called poor.

It’s incredible to think that a player is either Amazing or Poor. Almost as though there’s no middle ground.

Because his output was so visible when he was playing well under Gerrard, we are expecting similar to be able to say 'he's playing well'.

Emery's system takes the need for people to be individually brilliant away completely.

Last match he had the most turnovers/interceptions at HT but was described as anonymous. This week he's been poor even though he's contributed to our game well. Nothing standout, but he is reliable with the ball, carries it well, and does a good amount of defensive work.

He's fine.

(But I have a feeling he has more to come)

Yeah, it's been a tough couple of months for Declan Rice. Stay strong king.

Same could be said for Traore but you always stick your neck out for him and that’s coming from me a man who actually likes Traore.

His best attribute is his runs in the final 3rd and playing on the left in this system doesn't really allow that, but he's doing a job for the team and his commitment is exemplary.  He's still a better player than I first thought he was going to be and he sets a good example to our other youngsters.

He looked a proper player before his injury, it's  no good defending him, he ain't half the player he was. Ive said before, looks like a player too comfortable at the moment, needs to start working hard again.

Won the ball back more than any of our other midfielders and lost possession the least.
