Chindie Posted July 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted July 20, 2017 I dunno... He had a history of depression and had openly said he'd considered suicide before. And he had long standing drug and dunk abuse problems. And Linkin Park are hardly chart toppers anymore. Still... Not good. Apparently had 6 kids. Only 41. sharkyvilla
Real shame, Linkin Park are about the only band I can look back on my college nu-metal days and not think 'what the **** was I doing listening to that shite'.
dAVe80
Wasn't sure who he was, so had to mooney. Not a fan of his music, but that is very sad news.
dubbs
LPs later stuff wasn't for everyone but the guy was genuinely talented. 6 kids and 41 years old. Such a waste.
Ingram85
Gutted about Chester. LP were a big part of my early to mid teens along with Blink and AFI. Talented chap too. RIP dude.
Chindie Posted July 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted July 20, 2017 I think I was the perfect age when they became 'a thing'. Literally just started secondary school. I wouldn't say I particularly liked them but they had a few decent songs and are probably the only 'nu metal' band that was both successful and managed to do something not completely shit with the genre. daggy_333
Gutted. Grew up listening to them. RIP.
maqroll
Sad news. Can't stand their music, but I respected him for shredding his vocal chords the way he did, year after year.
Chindie Posted July 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted July 20, 2017 It's prompted me to look up some of the stuff they did in recent years, as the last song I remember them doing was 'What I've Done', which I recall not much liking. **** me they did some shit after Meteora. I mean loads of the stuff before that was rubbish too but it had something about it and there's a couple of gems (of their time, especially if you're 14 when you're listening) in there. After? ****. They appear to have become a really bad Coldplay knock-off by the end.
mjmooney Posted July 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted July 20, 2017 The name (of course) meant nothing to me, but I know my daughters had a Linkin Park album or two, back then.

Not really listened to any of their stuff since my balls dropped but they were one of the soundtracks to our WWF No Mercy and Goldeneye marathons. Much simpler days. leemond2008
I've not listened to them since I was 16 or 17 and that was only cuz my mate loved them and used to play them all the time (along with papa roach and shitsnot) Never a fan of them. Keyblade
They'll always have some timeless songs. Doesn't get much better than LP for catchy, edgy teen-rock. RIP to Chester.
Tegis Posted July 20, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted July 20, 2017 Wasn't a fan but they had a fair few good songs. But one thing struck me when i stumbled upon a liveshow with them was how fantastic he sounded live. Hit all notes perfectly and sounded exactly as on record. RIP! leemond2008
Just read that he was good friends with Chris Cornell and he just so happened to die on his birthday, probably a coincidence but it's still pretty **** up
