When I pointed this out a while a go I was told he was borderline world class however I've always seen through him and I'm glad this tournament has exposed him for once and for all.

you see it in the media when ever he has a good game or makes a good save, he gets compared to actual world class keepers like Buffon De Gea etc. Great keepers make the great saves, but they also don't let in soft goals.

Joe Hart has a significant resume of shocking errors that has yet again increased in size this summer.

Kane has been awful in this tournament - England's worst player by a distance - he's slowed things down, taken a succession of dreadful set pieces and not scored from about fifteen opportunities. Rooney has been our best player, but I don't think you can make a case for any of those who've gone out there having improved their reputation.

Hodgson tonight brought back players that were playing badly and were clearly out of form, because he thought it would be an easy game and he could get his favourites back into the side. Enjoy retirement Roy, you'll go down in history as one of England's worst.

Kane in this tournament has reminded me of that world cup when Lampard had 100 shots and they all flew 15 feet over the bar.

Why does he think he's some free kick specialists, I can barely remember any he's scored for Spurs bar that one v us.

Kane should not play for England for a long time. He's slow and extremely ponderous, he also doesn't have the bottle to carry the responsibility as England's main forward. Pathetic stuff, I hope this tournament brings down his club form.

Premier League is a massive part of the the problem, but the grass roots level (coaching, size of pitches, emphasis on the wrong things) is the chief culprit.

However, like it or not but it's clear that under the Premier League England have not produced anywhere near enough world class players. There needs to be a bias towards home grown players over foreign exports. There also needs to be a correction to the insane market it has become, it's clearly the case that club is more important than country, it would be when you're Sterling and on £200k a week at 20 years old, it's no wonder he has no desire at this level, it's just a big folly.

I know how we can fix that, scrap EPPP and make it even cheaper for big teams to hoard and then never develop young talent!

They're not though.

If we had a team of shit players then it wouldn't be so **** infuriating that they played so shit!

Ok, fair point. I'll rephrase it. I think a lot of the players maybe are made to look better than they are in their club team by more talented overseas players. There is a lack of quality in key areas

I think the most damning thing you can say is that this was so very typical.

No that was a whole new level of ineptness.

Worst ever tournament result and performance and second worst England result ever.

As my wife just said.   You could have picked and England team from the championship (it will let her off not referring to it as the Aston Villa founded football league) who could and should have beat that Iceland team.

This has been said since, what? 1970?

No idea, I wasn't alive back then. English players don't have vision, creativity, flair and they're incapable of improvising. Not sure is it cultural, the english mentality or are those things coached out of them.

I think last season's Villa side could beat them to be honest.

Brexit will mean more english players will get a chance.

However I don't think fans will be too happy paying 40-60 quid to watch headless chicken players running into each other at 100mph as we see every two years in major tournaments.

Worst England manager of all time. That group of players producing that?

Rooney needs to retire. Dreadful.

Sterling isn't a footballer. Never mind one worth 40 odd million.

We have zero decent defenders.

Kane is quite possibly the worst England striker we've had a major tournament.

Tear it all up and start again. Fuming. What a waste of 2 tournaments.

Come on Poland.
