Brexit will leave workers poorer than they would have been and has damaged Britain's competitiveness, new study says

The findings go on to say leaving the EU has pushed up the cost of living, seen investment fall and the UK lose market share in key areas.

Not sure what the problem is. Your typical leave voter said long and loud that economic factors were not the reason for their vote, and that some things are more important than money.

They said at the time that they were fine with the inevitable financial hit, so I can't imagine any of them will now be complaining.

If only this had been said, loudly and repeatedly, for years in the run up to and aftermath of the Brexit vote, we wouldn't be in this m-

Some leave voters may have said that but not the "typical" or "average" one.

They had it totally reinforced over and over again by the Brexit campaign that there would be no financial penalties and anyone who suggested so was shouted down as project fear or remoaners.

I would say they "typical" Brexit voter believed those promises so went ahead and voted out anyway.

Yes to some it was an out at any costs decision but few would have agreed to self harm to achieve that.  Certainly more than enough than to have tipped the vote the other way if they had known.

All those news stories are going to do is be used as proof positive of the massive elite cabal conspiracy. Like America, we are going to have the best part of 10-15 million people convinced of a global conspiracy to do the country down. Media, scientists, economists, historians etc, are just out to get them, them and THEIR FREE RIGHT being all trampled on. It's depressing. Honestly, is eugenics based on stupidity rather than race less repugnant at all? No? Oh ok then. Just asking for a friend.

This shit show would be comedy gold if it wasn't actually real life. If you are having to mention a 2% saving on fish fingers (that might actually be a lie given who is spouting it) as a means to show Brexit has been a success then it truly has been an almighty f up.

Like Boris Johnson, he seems to be completely immune to any feelings of embarrassment in his own pathetic performance.

“democratic accountability”

Is that Postman Prat’s way of saying that it’s all ‘our’ fault for voting for it? Despite him being front and centre in encouraging people to do so?

He's probably heard tell of these "fish fingers" that poor people eat so thought he'd probably mention some kind of saving on them.

He's probably wondering what they hell they are.

Same interview from the other thread with the lies about the meter markings for fire exits. A quick comment that took 5-10 minutes to prove was absolute false.

I can't find any info on the fish fingers or cheese because he's not given enough detail, but even if he had, it'd take another 10 minutes searching for regulations and showing that he's talking bollocks. All part of the plan, isn't it? They baffle the people with bullshit. Throw out lie, after lie, after lie, knowing that even if anyone can be bothered, it's slower to prove the truth than it is to make stuff up, and by the time you've shown they were lying, they're 10 lies further along.

Decent people, I think, still have a vague feeling of "well they couldn't say something as a matter of fact unless there was *some* truth to it, could they?", but they do, again, and again. It's not your typical political "spin". It's complete and utter bullshit, 24/7, to keep people so confused about what's really happening it's hard to keep up.

Yet again I’m annoyed by the person asking the questions. Why isn’t it followed up with “is that it?”

”do you think it was worth all the negatives to have cheaper fish fingers?”

The Brexit fun keeps coming.

Quote

Government plans to override parts of the Brexit deal relating to Northern Ireland have passed their first hurdle in Parliament.

By 295 votes to 221, MPs gave initial approval to a controversial bill allowing ministers to scrap parts of the Northern Ireland Protocol.

It comes despite warnings, including from former PM Theresa May, that it breaches international law.

The move also risks fresh tensions with the EU, which has taken legal action.

But Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said there was no other option to "fix" problems the deal has created.

The bill would allow ministers to change the part of 2019 deal that introduced post-Brexit checks on goods sent from Great Britain to Northern Ireland.

Just a bit of international law breaking, and the cowards in blue are still backing their criminal clown boss.

Teresa May makes a speech telling the house that it breaks international law, then fails to vote against it 🤦‍♂️

Seriously? I noted she had said all of that and that there were Tories that voted against it; just presumed she would be one of them!

From the story linked above

She told MPs she "cannot support" the plans. Voting lists show she did not take part in the vote, suggesting she may have abstained.

Well if she abstained that is a little better but still would be good if politicians actually had some convictions and voted according to their beliefs rather than anything else.

Very, very marginally better I guess.

Its completely alien to me to stand up and tell the world what is proposed is illegal. Then when asked if you want to vote to progress or block it decide to do neither. Sums up the current regime.
