Boris Johnson’s dad has received a multi-million pound compensation deal over HS2 after being forced to sell his home in North London. Stanley Johnson sold the five-bed house in Primrose Hill in October as the plan for the high speed rail development began. The 75-year-old’s home was just metres from the controversial rail line, which meant if he didn’t sell the property, it would lose almost all of its value. The father of London’s Mayor qualified for the Need to Sell scheme which offers compensation to property owners affected by HS2.

Metro

I know that road. This is over the wall on the left anyway.

So he's just metres from lots of old lines carrying lots of rail traffic anyway.

Forced out or a deal not to be missed?

If it his her then don't be surprised given the expected assault on JR, the Judges, the Supreme Court (and possibly a renewed look at the ECHR/HRA?*).

Suella Braverman: People we elect must take back control from people we don’t. Who include the judges.

Restoring sovereignty to Parliament after Brexit is one of the greatest prizes that awaits us. But not just from the EU. As we start this new chapter of our democratic story, our Parliament must retrieve power ceded to another place – the courts. For too long, the Diceyan notion of parliamentary supremacy has come under threat. The political has been captured by the legal. Decisions of an executive, legislative and democratic nature have been assumed by our courts. Prorogation and the triggering of Article 50 were merely the latest examples of a chronic and steady encroachment by the judges.

Will the Minister confirm that British citizenship is a privilege, not a right?

* I still think there might well be some sort of referendum on withdrawing from the ECHR before this parliament is out - with Cummings leaving No.10 (perhaps just temporarily) to lead an 'independent' campaign against the ECHR.

Dodgy deals don't need to be premeditated, they can be opportunistic too.

I really don't know enough about it tbh Tone, I just think it's an odd location anyway because that's all the lines out of Euston, and has been forever.

Will an extra couple of new trains on new tracks an hour be noticeable enough to force you out of your home?

They've been boarding that wall up so you can't see the works from many places. It's semi respectable boarding. Painted up with designs, a description of the works and perspex windowed portholes to look through. It was like that last year.

Will be interested to see how the residents' lives are compromised any further going forward?

I thought Cocks was doing their bidding quite well, you know, attacking judges and blathering about overturning democracy

But her that sounds like someone from the deep south of the USA calling his pigs will be much worse, just in competency levels

A spokesman for Sajid Javid has confirmed that he has resigned. The spokesman told the Press Association:

[Javid] has turned down the job of chancellor of the exchequer.

The prime minister said he had to fire all his special advisers and replace them with Number 10 special advisers to make it one team.

The chancellor said no self-respecting minister would accept those terms.
