Come on Tim, you hammered the team after the Leicester game. Small time. Say nothing and you come out with some credit. People will blame the players.

I think he gets confused. He might almost cry again about it.

Aston Villa made a mistake by sacking Tim Sherwood, says Peter Schmeichel

Peter Schmeichel is surprised by the timing of Remi Garde's departure

Peter Schmeichel believes Aston Villa should have stuck with Tim Sherwood and are paying the price for their haste in sacking the former Tottenham boss.

Remi Garde became the second Villa boss to lose his job this season when he left the club on Tuesday evening after just four months at Villa Park.

Garde was unable to turn around the club's fortunes, winning just two league games after taking charge on November 3, and left the club 12 points from safety at the bottom of the Premier League.

Schemeichel, who spent one season at Villa in the 2001/02 campaign, says Garde was on a hiding to nothing after succeeding Sherwood.

"I'm shocked that you give a manager a job in a very difficult situation, that he hasn't put the club in, and then you give him that little time to solve it?" he told Sky Sports News HQ. "They should have done their due diligence and got it right back then.

Garde's woeful record

Remi Garde managed just two league wins during his time in charge

"Tim Sherwood was well capable of getting Aston Villa out of trouble, but they didn't think that and now they've gone down the route of sacking yet another manager and history proves that doesn't help.

"So, it's a shock and then again no, because that's the way football has been going for quite a while."

I hope he does get a job somewhere else and then when he fails spectacularly (again) the Sherwood myth can be put to bed forever.

What about if he gets Derby promoted, will people stop calling him a clown on here then.

Probably.

Hell of a big "if" though!

He'll be too busy "guaranteeing" wins to get them promoted. More likely he'll relegate them just like he did us.

A team has never been relegated after 9 games. No chance Derby will get relegated unless they sell all their best players.

That's the thing with Sherwood though...

I'm sure he'd have done alright here if Benteke and Delph had stayed. Simply losing quality players like that and having to replace them in an already struggling team was simply too much for him in the early stages of a managerial career.

It's similar to Rodgers losing Suarez and not having a clue how to replace him and liverpool plummeted down the league. And Spurs lost their way after Bale went for 18 months.

He'll get more chances at clubs outside the premier league. Plenty of other poor managers though so don't understand why he's some sort of special case to some people.

Yes but if he gets the job, he has one of the best squads in the championship to work with. Its not like Lambert at Blackburn.

But he's a diabolical manager so it will probably go tits up.

The wheels will fall off the moment his style of adrenaline rush management burns out.

Same for many many managers. We always used to have long winless and then long unbeaten runs under Gregory years back.

Only have to look at Pardew aswell to see a very streaky football manager.
