lexicon
A lot of bad blood between those nations, I wouldn't read into it too much as dodgy as it may seem on the surface. The Koreans are still a bit bitter about hundreds of years of invasions and suppression. Yep. Fairly understandable really.
villaglint
1.5m was a typo apparently and probably more like twice that. Still great business if it comes off. Very strange feeling to attach happiness and Villa in my brain...been a while. I just know that this will build and after some OK pre season performances I'll be uber optimistic by the time the season starts. Can't wait for the soul crushing 3-0 loss in my first home game of the season!!
samjp26
I could be wrong but didn't he play further up the pitch for Celtic? Swansea too at times? I only remember him playing in front of the defence for Sunderland.

dont_do_it_doug.
I don't really understand why Swansea seem so hell bent on being rid of him. If we had had a player of that quality out on loan last season and we didn't try to make amends upon his return I would be tearing my hair out. The price is due to the contract length remaining, still seems like a bargain and I am too surprised nobody else appears to be in. Proven quality. Exactly what we need. He has a glorious first touch and a wide range of passing, not "spectacular" but he grafts for the team too. My pal compared him to Arteta, I think that was a good shout. turnbull
I'm guessing that if we did get Ki, there'd be zero chance of us signing Kiyotake then?!
dudevillaisnice
Would be really happy with this. My fear is other clubs will hijack this deal especially if the fee is £1.5m.
tornado3756
the animosity between Korea and Japan is bad but nothing compared to China and Japan but i guess there is no chinese player we would want or have been linked to.
cosofsaunders
I would be very happy with this if it comes off. Always looked good on the ball every time I've seen him. Great engine on him too. We're potentially shaping up nicely

He should be on the radar for Newcastle and Southampton for example. Though I think we underestimate the draw having two European cup winners on the management team can have. If we can pay the money, there's no reason why we can't compete with the rest of the bottom half. Fingers crossed.

He even tore us an a new one aswell if i recall? Anything in this IncogAVFC on twitter btw? I steer clear of ITK of any kind usually but he did mention Ki a few days ago before i saw anyone else mention him. Popular Post iloveki
Hi guys... I'm a huge fan of Ki! I have followed his entire career and know absolutely everything about him! I have been on the last coupe of years the Planetswans and Readytogo Sunderland forums and look forward to chatting to you guys. This would be an amazing move for Ki! He had a good world cup and the chance to work with TWO former Champions League winners who played in his position is an amazing chance I can see he will take up! I also think going to Aston Villa would be amazing as they are a former Champions League winner with an amazing stadium and some amazing players like Benteke. For Aston Villa they get for a small fee a player with 50 caps, two appearances in World Cup finals (2010/2014), an Olympic bronze medal, Premiership experience... The list goes on! What kind of player is Ki? He is a very flexiable player. He can play as a DM and dictate play or he can play higher on the pitch and try to create. His main strenghts are his composure, his passing and his long range shooting. Where most players need to move the ball from A to B to C Ki has a range of passing which goes straight from A to C! Wingers love playing with him. An example is when Ki was on form for Sunderland last year Adam Johnson went through a spell where he played the best of his career as Ki was getting him on the ball quickly and in space with great long accurate passes. Any wingers at Aston Villa or attackers who run into space will thrive in the same team. Ki though is not the perfect player. Having followed him closely I also know his weaknesses. I would say his weaknesses are the fact he doesn't bring his personality to his club teams. He is a leader in the Korean national team but sometimes when you watch him in the Premier League he seems happy to just do his job rather than lead the team which he is capable of. I hope Roy Keane's influence can bring this out of Ki. He is also not very defensively aware. He struggles to pick up runners itnto the box when playing Defensive Midfield. It's not lazyness it's a lack of awareness on defence. He is improving here. The only other area I am saying this isn't a 100% signing is because he will be missing from the team for January this season as he will be playing in the Asian Cup. If you guys have any questions please ask and I'll be happy to help. I look forward to visiting Villa Park!
