i think he is better than Nicky Shorey..How many games did Shorey play in the Premier league? Bennett had one game vs Chelski where he looked upto standard other than that he was terrible. as a PL player, Shorey was far better than Bennett. but as a Villa player, he was just terrible..

5 center backs is too many? i think we need at least 5 centerbacks because Lambert occasionally uses 3-5-2 formation.

Herd, Stevens and El Ahmadi. then we can sign 1 player(over 21) on permanent, 1 player(u-21) on loan.

On 27 at the moment. Out of the players in our team with squad numbers I would say Herd and Stevens will lose their place. After that I'm not sure, the likes of Gardner, Baker, Clark, Bent and according to rumour KEA could all be loaned or sold at no real cost to the squad all guys in this forum hate Clark and Baker, but they can't leave this window because we need 5 centerbacks. Lambert often uses three-back formation and we have no money to buy a new centerback. we need them as backup CBs and i think they are ok as backup CBs.
