Popular Post Mantis
I'm as hopeful as the next person that this happens, but that Telegraph article has nothing concrete at all, nothing more than we've all read on Twitter etc. It's the headline article in both the Guardian and the Telegraph. They both released it at the same time last night. They must have something concrete even if they can't print it. It's not like it's the Sun. I was sceptical about this whole thing until last night - but there has to be something happening now. Reckon it's 50/50 how this could turn out - anyone know what the success rate is with American owners? Gilette and Hicks were a disaster, Sunderland seem to be going down due to management similar to Lerner's, under Ellis Short. Fulham's guy seems a bit trigger happy with managers but he's invited heavily in January taken a gamble and it could pay off. The Glazers have no money of their own.... Would take a John Henry every day of the week. Interestingly Henry is similar to Lerner when he first came here - keeps out of the spotlight but has spent a lot of money. I think if we'd had had a good manager instead of O'Neill from the beginning (or at least one that could build for the future) things would be a lot different now.
McGregor1888
Metro reckon £250mil will be given for new transfers!! similar to Liverpool all under 25 years old!! Hopefully cherry picking best youngsters around europe http://metro.co.uk/2014/04/18/aston-villa-set-to-follow-liverpool-way-with-200million-takeover-4702794/ Aston Villa could be set to become the new Liverpool if two major American investors take over the club as expected at the end of the season. Villa, who should avoid relegation to the Championship this season, are being targeted by two wealthy US-based investors ahead of a possible £200million take over. According to the Telegraph, the deal will only go through if Paul Lambert’s men remain in the Premier League this term, but big plans are afoot. If they enter the Villa hot seat, the new owners will reportedly try and recreate the success Liverpool since John W Henry took charge. It’s thought that £250million will be made available for transfers, but just like the Reds, all deals would have to go through a transfer committee – with players under 25 the target. Villa are already under American ownership, with Randy Lerner in charge, but he has cooled his plans to heavily invest in the team in recent seasons. More on the possible takeover is expected to come out at the end of the campaign. the new Liverpool. could we not be called something less vile We were doing the "signing players under 25 thing" before Liverpool. The difference is that Liverpool were able to spend more than us on the back of Henry calling in his mates to provide Liverpool with an over the odds kit deal and shirt sponsorship, meaning they could shell out a good bit more than us on wages and player quality. This fella who writes for the Metro really gets on my goat. I'm sure he's a nice guy but he doesn't half write rubbish. ismail-villa
If we do get taken over (a big if) then we may be welcomed to a big money marquee signing, which'll show that the owners mean business! Exciting times but let's stay in the prem first
Daweii
In light of this news it makes me wonder why the players were so happy in training yesterday.. If I was a Villa player I wouldn't be happy as chances are my playing time at the club was nearing an end. If the rumours are true and we have £250 million to spend on world class youngsters we could replace the entire squad. Albrighton may get frustrated now at lack of game time but at least he's a Villa player, he may not be in the Summer when he gets replaced by some wonder-kid from Barcelona's academy. Because on a whole footballers are arrogant enough to think they'll be kept and get a big pay rise, because they think they're good for it.

Maybe... although he seems to have been a little trigger happy with transfer funds (according to the word down here), I don't want another American splashing his cash then getting cold feet. foreveryoung
Youngsters from Barcelona, 250 million transfer funds in first season, 2 billionaire owners. Slow down lads slow down, lets just see how this progresses. Like someone has already mentioned, if all this is true, I wouldn't like to be a player or manager at Villa right this moment. Not much for motivation!!!!

R.I.C.O.
Bring this on I'd say. Lerner seems to want to step aside and let someone else have a try. As far as keeping Lambert on, no chance! He's not good enough to take us forward and he'd just waste any money he was given. Plus he'd be more reluctant to get rid of all the dross he's signed. There's up to 10 or maybe 12 players who should be nowhere near the squad next season.

Popular Post Butterfingers
Of course players will be fighting to keep places. In addition, they will want to impress in case they do become surplus to requirements so they will be signed by another PL club. The negativity is laughable-"oh no, lets not get taken over because the existing players will purposely get us relegated"
