Nahki Wells

If we are after him then I can't believe it would be at the expense of the 'no. 10' or even a DM or CB loan.

I have no knowledge of how good he is barring the games he played against us last season.

I could imagine what it would be like on here if the internet was around when we signed Dwight Yorke however.

"We don't need him at the moment" - remind me, how is our attack doing? Benteke - hasn't scored in 4 months. Kozak - out for the season. Weimann - in horrible form, 1 goal this season. Helenius - clearly out of favour and not cutting it, only 3 sub appearances in the league. Bowery - yet to score or show even the slightest threat for Villa.

But that's not even the point. The point is if we don't sign him, somebody else will. We will miss out. We've been linked with him before we were even drawn against Bradford in the cup last season. Lambert clearly sees something in him and wants him for the long term.

And that's not even the main point. The REAL point is of course we are not going to sign Wells if it means we can't afford to buy our other main targets! Lambert has come out and said "we need experience" and "we need a number 10". Those are clearly the priority. If we sign Wells it will be AS WELL AS our other targets.

And the reason why the strikers isn't scoring regularily is because the midfield is a total mess. Get some quality in midfield, try keeping possession and the goals will come.

All IMO of course...

You're right that the midfield isn't helping the forwards in any shape or form.  It also is helping the defenders but not too many willing to jump on that bandwagon, but I digress...

The only thing I'd said is that it's not the midfield's (or PL's) fault that Benteke is fluffing his lines at the moment.

we didn't sign Yorke from another professional team, he was spotted young (Ron Atkinson?) when we played a friendly against a local Caribbean team

Good to see the typical Villa fan ‘support’ to any new signing.

Don’t see the point of signing him if we do, but at least give the bloke a chance!

That's kind of the same point everyone is making, so I don't get the 'support' dig. People would still give him a chance.

But people would still say "surely we should be aiming higher than signing a kid that plays on the beach?"

Point is that I have no idea whether he's even wanted here by PL, but the surrounding of League 1 aren't the be all and end all of judging a player's calibre.

This would be the 5th centre forward signed by Lambert. I just don't get it. This signing would mean we'd have 7 players able to play in the central role when all fit.

So is this basically admitting Bowery and Helenius have been wastes?

I thought the argument was that Lambert now had his squad players and we only needed to add quality to it.

I don't believe this link because it just concerns me if true.
