Nahki Wells

Aston Villa have turned to Bradford City goal-machine Nahki Wells as they look to add to their stuttering strike force.

Villa boss Paul Lambert is desperate to add another forward to his ranks this month, with Christian Benteke struggling for form, and Libor Kozak out for the season.

But despite links to several top name forwards, Lambert has turned to the lower leagues for a scoring option, with 23-year-old Wells closing in on a switch to Villa Park.

According to reports, a £2million deal is in the pipeline for the player who scored 26 goals in 54 matches last season – to help Bradford to promotion.

The Bermuda international has already found the net 15 times this term, and has been linked to a string of Championship clubs.

Here's a showreel of what he can do, for anyone who hasn't seen already.

Maybe if he does sign it's would be mostly to replace Bowery in the pecking order, and challenge Weimann.

He isn't a bad player, but sort out the real weak points before we blow more money on a lower league punt please Paul.

Thanks.

I will be in total disbelief if this effects out ability to sign anyone we actually need.

Couldn't have less interest in signing this guy. We don't need a striker and more so we don't need another sodding youngster from the lower leagues to add to all the terrible ones we already have.

I like the potential move. Bring him him and see how he develops. It doesn't help the first team and it is probably cheap and could pay off in the long run.  Moves are definitely need to improve the squad but that doesn't mean a move like this is bad. If it is the only move of the window that is a different story.

"We don't need him at the moment" - remind me, how is our attack doing? Benteke - hasn't scored in 4 months. Kozak - out for the season. Weimann - in horrible form, 1 goal this season. Helenius - clearly out of favour and not cutting it, only 3 sub appearances in the league. Bowery - yet to score or show even the slightest threat for Villa.

But that's not even the point. The point is if we don't sign him, somebody else will. We will miss out. We've been linked with him before we were even drawn against Bradford in the cup last season. Lambert clearly sees something in him and wants him for the long term.

And that's not even the main point. The REAL point is of course we are not going to sign Wells if it means we can't afford to buy our other main targets! Lambert has come out and said "we need experience" and "we need a number 10". Those are clearly the priority. If we sign Wells it will be AS WELL AS our other targets.

And the reason why the strikers isn't scoring regularily is because the midfield is a total mess. Get some quality in midfield, try keeping possession and the goals will come.

All IMO of course...
