Lambert again gambling our PL stature, can understand why he played Benteke and Weimann, but risking Clark, Delph and Westwood. Lets see which one gets injured. Pleased and hoping for a good solid win with a few goals. Get Sylla and Gardner on if we're controlling it after an hour. It's not as if they manufactured the story from thin air (which they normally do). Quotes that were taken out of context.Fairy nuff I might have missed the broader context. The bits I heard led me to think Lambert saw the cup as something we (and others in our position) could do without.That's exactly what he said and I don't think the quotes were taken out of context at all. However, whether he was stating a central belief of key importance to his approach as a manager, or just musing out loud in an injudicious way, is more open to question. Looks like he's trying to win today's match, so I guess he was not talking about his approach to this match, rather trying to make some broader philosophical point, all of which backfired rather badly. I think Con is right, he is using it as an opportunity for players to play themselves into form and get some confidence back against a weaker opponent.
