  1. I’m interested to see how they do this season. Part of me thinks they’ve bought really cleverly, but the other part thinks they’re still mostly the same squad that has been fighting relegation for the last 3-4 years. Targett, Wood and Burn improve them a bit, but they felt more like safe signings to avoid relegation, but still feel like mid to bottom half players. Bruno Guimaraes is obviously a quality player, as are Pope and Tripper. And Botman feels like a top-half player, but is a bit of an unknown quantity until we see him in the Prem. Currently, it feels like a lot of it boils down to Howe, and how he sets them up. Could they have benefitted from a good serving of new manager bounce last season? And if that wears off, do they currently have the squad to push past lower/mid table? I think they’ll do fairly well, but I also think they need to make another 3-4 good signings to really be up where their owners presumably want them (10th-7th, at a guess).

It’s easy to understand, but not easy to put into practice. Your £300 preplanned bet on England U19 would have lost you £300. My advice would be start smaller. See how you feel after losing…. say… £50. (Which is still a lot for a new gambler).
  4. You don’t think they had someone make it especially do you? A slap of paint and that’s probably one of their late grandads they’re holding above their head. Anything to get one over the vile
  5. So there’s a Villa Way and a Villa Live. Someone please tell me there will finally be a Villa Engine??!
  6. Not only that but I’ve heard he can play LB and even on the left of a back 4!

  8. We failed spectacularly at that didn’t we? We tried to be the Championship Bayern but came out more the Championship Bernardo’s. ”Need cash for unwanted old shite? Come to us!”
  9. I think this is disgraceful, and a terrible waste of bamboo and coffee grounds. What even IS a kits party? Woke bullshit. Just sell your kits in a shop like rest of us!

    Cats...

He honestly just changes character when it goes dark. It’s light still now and he’s the same relaxed, chilled-out cat he is in the day. But when the sun’s gone, it’s like having a little Wealdstone raider waiting around each door frame for you, claws out, “you want some?!”

    Cats...

A question for cat owners: do you think it’s cruel to spray a cat with water, for the purpose of ‘telling off’ / ‘stopping them doing something’ ? (I’m talking a little squeeze of a small mist spray, not a hose pipe!) We inherited a cat from a neighbour who we’re looking to rehome because he bullies our existing wuss of a cat. (Edwin (existing cat) spends most of his day hiding under the bed or in the loft now). On the advert to rehome (Facebook ) I mentioned that he can get boisterous on the night, so we sometimes give him a little spray, and some bint has commented, that spraying a cat is torture to them and the same as hitting them To explain, this cat we inherited flips out sometimes. And attacks our ankles for no reason. He also has REALLY sharp claws (and I’ve had cats since I was a kid, and have never been bothered by getting scratched or bitten). We think he was mistreated by previous owners. He gripped onto me with his teeth a few months back, and I had a purple bruise.
  12. I’ll be genuinely interested in how they do with a rebuilt squad, in the same way people were probably interested in how we did after spending loads. But, it’s worth remembering they still have a big job to even become a midtable team.
  13. It’s like the triumphant return of the lovely ladies thread but with added dogs
  14. I’m going through the same thing right now, but for a 2-storey extension for the whole width of the house, so the cost is basically double yours. Other than savings, I’m currently going down the route of adding the required additional money onto the mortgage - which isn’t up for renewal until next April, but the builders are coming in Jan, so from December to April I think we’ll have the new borrowing on a variable rate deal, meaning that in April we can renew our whole mortgage and the new borrowing all together on a fixed one. I thought this was the best way to do it, but funnily enough, yesterday we had the call with the mortgage advisor from our mortgage company, and he did ask if we’d looked into other lending alternatives as we may be able to find a better deal. I didn’t even know what he was referring to, as I figured most loans would have been over <10 years.
  15. I knew someone would say that as soon as o started writing that post
  16. Last Christmas I ordered £150 worth of presents off Amazon, and they sent me (and charged me for) everything twice. I called them to complain, citing an error on their part, but the guy insisted that it *must* have been my error. Of the 14 items, 13 could luckily all be returned by taking to a local shop that would print the label for me. But the last one needed me to print it myself, and I couldn’t be bothered to connect up my printer (in a cupboard, last used probably 10 years ago when home printers were a thing, not compatible with my Mac so I’d need to dig out my 10 year old laptop too), and also I wasn’t in the office at the time because our household had covid. So, to resolve my complaint of me not being able to easily return an unwanted second pair of pinking shears (posh sewing scissors, for those not in the know) their resolution… was to refund me for the scissors and send me a 3rd pair free of charge

  18. What is your favourite month, from month 1-12 in a year. Answer by holding up that number of fingers
  19. The eyes in those comics really bug me. I get they’re trying to make that their unique style, but it just looks crap, doesn’t it?
  20. As Jordan said on TS, you can’t always plan your exit. What if he’s had his fill in 3 years but no one wants to pay what he wants for his share? Does he just stay there with even less of a role, but making cuts left right and centre to try to claw back some money to make up the difference in what someone might offer him
  21. Gibson. I got it second hand off a mate and paid about £500 i think, but just assumed it was around that price range. Unless I’m really dialling into the wrong sound, it sounds like utter turd through an amp simulator though. My Squire tele just sounds so much more …. crisp.
  22. Flook - Haven Accidentally discovered Flook on radio 3 when my wife was channel hopping in the car. Loving it
  23. Same here, 1918 built house. As well as the cold, expensive winter and cool summer, I get the added bonus of my office being in a loft conversion with south facing velux windows that basically cook me alive. As I’m ditching my trips to the office because of the train strikes next week, I fully expect to die of roasting.
  24. *VT gathering at the lapal_fan house* Everyone: “NO-ONE mention those **** rocks to him, for Christ’s sake”
