    Cats...

A question for cat owners: do you think it’s cruel to spray a cat with water, for the purpose of ‘telling off’ / ‘stopping them doing something’ ? (I’m talking a little squeeze of a small mist spray, not a hose pipe!) We inherited a cat from a neighbour who we’re looking to rehome because he bullies our existing wuss of a cat. (Edwin (existing cat) spends most of his day hiding under the bed or in the loft now). On the advert to rehome (Facebook ) I mentioned that he can get boisterous on the night, so we sometimes give him a little spray, and some bint has commented, that spraying a cat is torture to them and the same as hitting them To explain, this cat we inherited flips out sometimes. And attacks our ankles for no reason. He also has REALLY sharp claws (and I’ve had cats since I was a kid, and have never been bothered by getting scratched or bitten). We think he was mistreated by previous owners. He gripped onto me with his teeth a few months back, and I had a purple bruise.
  2. I’ll be genuinely interested in how they do with a rebuilt squad, in the same way people were probably interested in how we did after spending loads. But, it’s worth remembering they still have a big job to even become a midtable team.
  3. It’s like the triumphant return of the lovely ladies thread but with added dogs
  4. I’m going through the same thing right now, but for a 2-storey extension for the whole width of the house, so the cost is basically double yours. Other than savings, I’m currently going down the route of adding the required additional money onto the mortgage - which isn’t up for renewal until next April, but the builders are coming in Jan, so from December to April I think we’ll have the new borrowing on a variable rate deal, meaning that in April we can renew our whole mortgage and the new borrowing all together on a fixed one. I thought this was the best way to do it, but funnily enough, yesterday we had the call with the mortgage advisor from our mortgage company, and he did ask if we’d looked into other lending alternatives as we may be able to find a better deal. I didn’t even know what he was referring to, as I figured most loans would have been over <10 years.
  5. I knew someone would say that as soon as o started writing that post
  6. Last Christmas I ordered £150 worth of presents off Amazon, and they sent me (and charged me for) everything twice. I called them to complain, citing an error on their part, but the guy insisted that it *must* have been my error. Of the 14 items, 13 could luckily all be returned by taking to a local shop that would print the label for me. But the last one needed me to print it myself, and I couldn’t be bothered to connect up my printer (in a cupboard, last used probably 10 years ago when home printers were a thing, not compatible with my Mac so I’d need to dig out my 10 year old laptop too), and also I wasn’t in the office at the time because our household had covid. So, to resolve my complaint of me not being able to easily return an unwanted second pair of pinking shears (posh sewing scissors, for those not in the know) their resolution… was to refund me for the scissors and send me a 3rd pair free of charge
  7. I think it’s great. I could see me wearing that
  8. What is your favourite month, from month 1-12 in a year. Answer by holding up that number of fingers
  9. The eyes in those comics really bug me. I get they’re trying to make that their unique style, but it just looks crap, doesn’t it?
  10. As Jordan said on TS, you can’t always plan your exit. What if he’s had his fill in 3 years but no one wants to pay what he wants for his share? Does he just stay there with even less of a role, but making cuts left right and centre to try to claw back some money to make up the difference in what someone might offer him
  11. Gibson. I got it second hand off a mate and paid about £500 i think, but just assumed it was around that price range. Unless I’m really dialling into the wrong sound, it sounds like utter turd through an amp simulator though. My Squire tele just sounds so much more …. crisp.
  12. Flook - Haven Accidentally discovered Flook on radio 3 when my wife was channel hopping in the car. Loving it
  13. Same here, 1918 built house. As well as the cold, expensive winter and cool summer, I get the added bonus of my office being in a loft conversion with south facing velux windows that basically cook me alive. As I’m ditching my trips to the office because of the train strikes next week, I fully expect to die of roasting.
  14. *VT gathering at the lapal_fan house* Everyone: “NO-ONE mention those **** rocks to him, for Christ’s sake”
  15. I have a Gibson Les Paul Gothic. Nothing amazing but I imagine it’s a 500/600 quid guitar, but I use my £139 Squire tele to record with because it sounds so much better. I’m probably doing something wrong
  16. Moxley has posted an interesting thread on Twitter where he essentially downplays Bassini’s involvement and actually says this new ownership is a good thing (based on investment/ sorting the ground/ and interestingly, Craig Gardner’s role in it), I’m hoping someone who’s more up-to-speed on it all can call BS on his thoughts!
  17. I’d like to see that one in an unedited photo. The sky looks sepia on that pic, but everything else, except for the shirt, looks relatively unedited… so I can’t figure out whether that’s what the shirt actually looks like
  18. Unpopular opinion (in Other Football), I find the ‘mate’ stuff really boring in the small heath thread

    Liverpool

Do they claim to not pay big fees? What I always see from them is that their spend/net spend isn’t that much (relatively, for a team that runs alongside Man City at the top), and I tend to agree with that. When they do spend big they seem to get it right, unlike other clubs who splash big money on flops (benchwarmer Jackie, Sancho etc etc)
  20. Most small heath fans probably think liquidate is a type of fruit smoothie
  21. So you’re saying there isn’t a local bus to the Big Bang?! Well twist my nipple and call me Deirdre. Not even the number 9?! Faith in science gone. Bring me the books. (Only joking, I’m an atheist, thank god)

Annoying innit? A bit like when your first was born and I think you started every post on VT for the next 8 months with “as a new dad..”
  23. So the lesson is, when the first club comes to get you from Villa, f^%#*#g run!
