  1. If it’s still in the stage you can cancel, I’d recommend looking at Santander or going through a ‘free’ financial advisor to check Santander. My financial advisor that I always use for remortgaging said they Santander are WAY better for rates right now, as they keep offering deals well below what others offer, but they also pull the deals regularly too. If you can be bothered, it might be worth putting a call in just for a quick chat and to see if you could save yourself in the long run. My 5 year fixed is up in April, on <2%, but we had our remortgage arranged 2 months ago at around 2.79% (Santander), and we’re going to go ahead with it in December and pay our early repayment fee for December to April. After I worked it all out, I think the small charge is outweighed by what I’m likely to save by getting this better rate locked in, as opposed to getting a new deal in April
  2. Has Philly just completed a forward pass? Burn.
  3. I’m settled on my team, but foolishly I’ve barely looked past GW1 for fixtures. With a few hours to go, and my team going through many, MANY changes in recent weeks… I’m now going to worryingly look at the fixtures my 11 (with no bench other than N Williams ) will have in the coming weeks. Eek.
  4. This season is a funny one. There is a definite template which 80% of the top performers in the FPL community (on Twitter) seem to be going with. Kane OR Halaand & Jesus up top Trent & Cancelo & one of or both of James/Chilwell in defence Salah, & Martinelli OR Neto OR Bailey in midfield With the gaps filled with whatever is affordable, often Diaz in MF or another 8m mid. It looks like a good team, but I don’t really want to go there. I want Bowen & Saka as two of last seasons consistent performers (but now with a high price tag), which is limiting my funds when I start to add in the must-haves like Salah or one of Haaland/Kane. I still think I’ll end up going my own way
  5. Then they should bloody well learn the rules. You start on page 1 and read on until you catch up! Honestly.
  6. From what I’ve heard, we offered a contract last season and there has been no response at all from his side at all. No negotiations, no rejection, nothing. That’s pretty shitty if true. Again, it’s not technically wrong. But leaving your team completely in the dark, without even expressing your intentions or demands (or even an “I’d like to leave” for all to know), stinks of wanting to have your cake and eat it. He wants the game time and development we’re offering, but intends to leave on a free at the earliest opportunity to someone better.
  7. Tbf, he kept up that purple patch for an awful long time at West Ham. Way longer than everyone who was, at the time referring to his mean, predicted. He’s clearly a wally, who seems more interested in singing about beans than playing well most of the time, but if (big IF) the change of setting, team, manager & his status as the big fish inspires him to get back to what he is capable of, then he may prove worth the money to Forest.
  8. You’re missing one obvious positive though. It’d be funny

    Weather...

I’d not even contemplated that. But I think I might need to copy you. I have an extremely busy day of work on Monday, made worse by having to go to school meeting in the morning for our 4-year-old who starts in September - meaning I’m going to have to log in to work around 12, just as my loft/sauna is getting to boiling point, and working through to 7-8ish probably. It’s been unbearably hot up there in the recent hot days, so I’m **** dreading Monday!
  10. The mountain trolls in The Hobbit always sounded a bit yam yam or brummie to me

Now feels like the perfect time to mention toothpastefordinner.com, MY favourite cartoon site. (Admittedly, I remember it being a lot funnier when I used to check it around 2002).
  12. I’m interested to see how they do this season. Part of me thinks they’ve bought really cleverly, but the other part thinks they’re still mostly the same squad that has been fighting relegation for the last 3-4 years. Targett, Wood and Burn improve them a bit, but they felt more like safe signings to avoid relegation, but still feel like mid to bottom half players. Bruno Guimaraes is obviously a quality player, as are Pope and Tripper. And Botman feels like a top-half player, but is a bit of an unknown quantity until we see him in the Prem. Currently, it feels like a lot of it boils down to Howe, and how he sets them up. Could they have benefitted from a good serving of new manager bounce last season? And if that wears off, do they currently have the squad to push past lower/mid table? I think they’ll do fairly well, but I also think they need to make another 3-4 good signings to really be up where their owners presumably want them (10th-7th, at a guess).

    Betting sites

It’s easy to understand, but not easy to put into practice. Your £300 preplanned bet on England U19 would have lost you £300. My advice would be start smaller. See how you feel after losing…. say… £50. (Which is still a lot for a new gambler).
  15. You don’t think they had someone make it especially do you? A slap of paint and that’s probably one of their late grandads they’re holding above their head. Anything to get one over the vile
  16. So there’s a Villa Way and a Villa Live. Someone please tell me there will finally be a Villa Engine??!
  17. Not only that but I’ve heard he can play LB and even on the left of a back 4!

List them on Facebook marketplace as ‘free - collection only’ and people will come and get them from you
  19. We failed spectacularly at that didn’t we? We tried to be the Championship Bayern but came out more the Championship Bernardo’s. ”Need cash for unwanted old shite? Come to us!”
  20. I think this is disgraceful, and a terrible waste of bamboo and coffee grounds. What even IS a kits party? Woke bullshit. Just sell your kits in a shop like rest of us!

    Cats...

He honestly just changes character when it goes dark. It’s light still now and he’s the same relaxed, chilled-out cat he is in the day. But when the sun’s gone, it’s like having a little Wealdstone raider waiting around each door frame for you, claws out, “you want some?!”

    Cats...

A question for cat owners: do you think it’s cruel to spray a cat with water, for the purpose of ‘telling off’ / ‘stopping them doing something’ ? (I’m talking a little squeeze of a small mist spray, not a hose pipe!) We inherited a cat from a neighbour who we’re looking to rehome because he bullies our existing wuss of a cat. (Edwin (existing cat) spends most of his day hiding under the bed or in the loft now). On the advert to rehome (Facebook ) I mentioned that he can get boisterous on the night, so we sometimes give him a little spray, and some bint has commented, that spraying a cat is torture to them and the same as hitting them To explain, this cat we inherited flips out sometimes. And attacks our ankles for no reason. He also has REALLY sharp claws (and I’ve had cats since I was a kid, and have never been bothered by getting scratched or bitten). We think he was mistreated by previous owners. He gripped onto me with his teeth a few months back, and I had a purple bruise.
  23. I’ll be genuinely interested in how they do with a rebuilt squad, in the same way people were probably interested in how we did after spending loads. But, it’s worth remembering they still have a big job to even become a midtable team.
  24. It’s like the triumphant return of the lovely ladies thread but with added dogs
