  1. His goal reminded me of Leon Baileys on his debut against Everton...... I much prefer your example
  2. I see it as an extension of an existing problem. The club needs to generate more match day revenue in order to compete at the top of the league, until the stadium is expanded they have very limited ways of doing it. They sold too many season tickets, how do you fix that problem. You can try to squeeze money out of the remaining or start cancelling some seats.
  3. Is it ridiculous? Picking through people on here and other fan boards, I'd say the club are on target to sell the seats. I'm not saying I like it, but I'll be surprised if the seats go unsold.
  4. Don't agree, it's a 25 day competition, no way decided by the weather. If you go two down, you make it incredibly hard to win.
  5. How have we gone from 50m being quoted in the press to 34m on VT?
  6. In my experience you don't need to offer help, just give it. Shut down gossip, allow more time on work tasks, make sure your requests are reasonable. Basically whatever your work interactions, make them as simple and nice as possible. This person is unlikely to come to someone they don't really know for help so just be the best person you can be and in the nicest possible way, don't look for them to thank you. Make their life easier by making sure you don't make it difficult
  7. I thought you got the pro-rata season ticket price which was roughly 80% of the match day price. But you could be right.
  8. Are you sure you have this right? Traditionally the club have given back 1/19th of the ST per game that you resell. This typically works out at 80% of the match day price. So you get back what you have paid. I'm not seeing any change to the scheme, other than they want you to transfer your ST seat to a friends fan ID rather than just giving them your card. They've asked people to do this for years for health and safety reasons.
  9. he will be back for Old Trafford. The bloke has an end named after him. Broad has played 3 in a row, i think Robinson has as well. One of those will be rested i suspect
  10. I dint think you can put sand paper in the same camp as dark arts. That is cheating, you are taking an implement onto the pitch. It's a bit different to roughing up the ball with finger nails and saliva
  11. No way. He'll be back for old Trafford, was only ever going to play 3. Hes still class, has bowled well but not got wickets and the Edgbaston pitch didn't suit him. Also came in off an injury. To easy to declare him past it all of a sudden.
  12. Why would heck slow it down? Where has this narrative come from.
  13. diesel near me can vary by 15-20 pence per litre.
  14. why did the world put so much effort and cost into trying to find 8 millionaires lost so far under sea? Compare it to the efforts and attention given to the 500 people who lost lives in the Mediterranean in the week. Disappointing state of our world.
  15. the government also owns NS&I, this is a government back savings product. The rates here are still lower than lots of high street banks so id suggest the government has the ability to fix this very easily if they want to.
  16. others have probably gone onto explain but the reason such low rates were achieved was because of the low rate environment. With base rates so low and money so cheaply available the banks had to earn money through volume. It was near impossible to make any money from savings so banks were forced to be really competitive to stay in business. With the increased rates banks are now earning c1-2% on savings products and about the same on mortgages. Now you can now may the same money by selling one mortgage as you would have done selling 4 or 5 8 years ago. Banks also have a limit on how much they can actually lend, you cant be a tiny bank and borrow an unlimited amount of money. This means banks are now being selective about which mortgages they lend. You wouldnt want to do all of your lending at low rates because as rates move you have less ability to lend products at higher rates. As you say, they are greedy. This is because they are private business' with shareholders and want to make as much money as possible.
  17. alternative example, how many under 16s ate Muller yoghurts exclusively, i know i did. I think its fair to say that advertisers can have an impact by giving you awareness. Does it drive explicit loyalty probably not. My issue with a gambling sponsor is that it will likely give a platform for gambling offers. You dont have to watch much of sky sports to see a specific offer relevant to a game appear. You dont have to listed to talk sport for long until Alan Brazil is debating how much money he lost on paddy power, no hears paddy with another offer. People who gamble will always gamble. Plenty of opportunities for them, but make a bookmaker the main sponsor of a football club will potential give that bookmaker the opportunity to glamourise their industry to a group of families and children.
  18. following PMQs and the debate about mortgage rates, what options really do we have to control inflation. With my rudimentary economics A level (plus a career in banking which may skew my thoughts) im still stumped by how else do we get it under control. Id love to know what Starmer is planning here, i fully get the argument about not giving away your policies but under a labour government id still expect the BoE to be increasing interest rates.
  19. i think it shows you what you get in the prem for 30m now. Bailey is ok, 10 goal/assists per year. Similar output to a lot of those mentioned on the image above. Compare him to Benrahma, Murphy, Traore, hes probably fine. If you want a lot more then you will spend a lot more and its still not guaranteed. For every Grealish you also have a Pepe.
  20. his first half against Leeds last season under SG, i genuinely thought might be the best 45 minutes ive seen from a villa player. The big challenge for me is as you say, he cant complete 90 minutes, when he gets injured its for 3 months. We just cant afford a player like this on the books but it looks likely we will take a big loss on him that may impact our ability to bring in others.
  21. We'd recently brought a few Meaco fans or as they are now known, air circulators. They are good to be fair and have an almost silent eco mode so you can run them at night for about 1p and hour. Would recommend.
  22. i dont think we had many spares available anyway. My ST is in the lower Holte and ill often try and get tickets for friends around me. They are pretty much limited to singles only and its rare to see any left at all. Id assume you are right though and they are starting to protect the future hospitality seats.
  23. id predict 30-40m. We paid that for Buendia and Watkins, seems like others would.
  24. my assumption on the previous graphic was that its about the club not necessarily a holding group. Just trying to offer a view on why West Ham are showing such improvement. This could be link to the fact neither of us are holding such a large asset on the club accounts and are paying rent for stadia. Regardless, another well done to Purslow. Put us back where we belong.
