Gabby Agbonlahor

5 in 11 to start the season.

5 in 33 to finish the season.

Last Premier League goal? 5th November.

The worst run of form in his career. His career is baring striking similarities to how Vassell's went. Every season we would say "this season he will get 15-20 goals" and it never came and it isn't coming for Gabby either. The stats are upsetting, the performances have been frightening. I imagine a lot of you, like me, see him as your favourite player in the squad which makes it all the more distressing seeing him play like this.

How about this for another statistic...

In his last 68 Premier League games he has scored 10 goals :(

What next for our Gabs?

Sell him to Man City like we did with Vassel, possibly.

(Edit) But seriously, there is a good footballer in there. It's just that, like the rest of the squad, he lost interest for the second half of the season. N'Zogbia and Gabby are both players who could shine with a better manager, imo. Of course we could just be missing the hit-and-miss Ashley Young and the Guardian's flop-of-the-season Stuart Downing. Or so McLeish would tell us.

his put 4 stone on in in 2 seasons. his only asset was pace which has been lost because of his weight gain. i would not be sad to see him move on now.

The only thing that made him a premiership class player was his pace. That seem sto have gone now, he is relying on his ability. Which he doesnt have much of.

He has looked like a championship player this season.

yet another player who's being killed by the system we play. He needs to adapt his game or he will suffer greatly. he's worked hard to get where he is now but he's devoid of any inspiration, and does not want to put the effort in any more.

I havent seen his missing too many chances.

The last two seasons the team has been totally inept, and not played to his strengths. There is a good player in there and I dont want to write him off yet.

He's spent a lot of time out wide this year, and has chipped in with some valuable assists, but i agree with briny in that things have gone a bit stale, and maybe he needs a move away, although can't help thinking aswell, that with a new manager, someone like Martinez, who gets his sides playing football, he'd be back in the goals again.

If we get Lambert. Keep him. He'll flourish under hi counter-attack heavy gameplan just like he did under MON and at the start of McLeish's reign (god knows what happened there). He always does worse post November but he loves the club and if he gets 15 goals like he did under MON. Then cool. Also think he'd work well with Grant Holt up front.

If we get Martinez. Sell him, he won't work in that system. through balls will be good for him but it doesn't suit him for some reason like under GH, thought he'd flourish there too with Young, Downing and an on-form Marc behind him but he was woeful in that attack and (whilst crap at it) possession-based team.

If its true Sunderland want to give us £10-12m for him, sell. Then hire a proper scout and buy a proper forward, Newcastle have shown (twice) this season that a good striker can be bought for that amount who can finish, is speedy and can hold up the ball too.

If Bent is serious in his tweets about staying at Villa, then thats Gabby's fate sealed for me. Problem being Bent will force a move in 12 months time and Gabby wouldnt. Stand to lose them both if we sell Gabby first imo and i'd be very worried about that. I love Gabby but the fact is we need funds from somewhere and its coming from either Gabby or Bent.

I don't think selling him is a good idea at all!!!

Agreed he has had a poor couple of seasons, but EVERYONE has!

We should keep him and develop the squad in other areas and start playing a system that suits the strengths of the team!!

Also the guy is a lifelong Villa fan and a club legend (and yes I understand the enormity of that statement!). Just look at the momentous goals he has scored for us!

The 2 late, late winners at St.Andrews are enough to make him a hero forever but his goal away at Old Trafford to give us our first win there since '83 cemented it for me!

Madness even contemplating getting rid with the lack of talent in our current squad!!!

A lot of people seem to forget something. When he was banging them in a couple of seasons ago we had great supply of the ball - now he IS the supply of the ball on the wing! What also seems to have been forgotten is that when he was scoring - the papers started to talk about some clubs sniffing around him.He came out and laughed, stating he is villa forever and that no club would even bother coming in for him as they know he is commited to Villa for his whole career. That was when he was a wanted man, what did Ash and Downing do? Got on the phone to there agents and forced a big money move out of VP. Gabby is power commited to Villa, as we should be to him. Yes, he has had a bad season - but who has had a good one?

in gabby's defence he's played out wide more than up front

he's also provided alot of assits, and his crossing has been far better than anyone else in the side.

if we had a team that knew how to pass he'd be useful but as we dont he suffers.

unless we change managers then i think he should leave, if we bring in someone else as manager then he'll start scoring agian mark my words
