  1. Just moved to Tufnell Park last month. Excellent timing! Busy for next few weekends but after that I'm keen! London Lions!
  2. To be honest fuse these were my gripes, but as usual we are stuck with it so we will have to back him. I really thought we would have been smart enough to get a manager with some vibe to him who could bring that feel good factor back and have some creativity with transfers. We've gone the safe and boring route as usual, as I suspect this manager will. :? Your both what I hate about some Villa fans, never happy, never satisfied, part of the poisonous band of miserable gits that linger around Villa Park. Instantly on the clubs back. It makes no difference that football people, with knowledge and experience, rate him as one of the best young managers around. No, lets be upset at the fact he doesn't tell jokes at his press conferences, and he's not from Brazil and called Paulinio Lamberto. Everyones has a right to an opinion, but there's a bunch at Villa that just need to do one. Could not agree more!!! So many Villa fans do not have realistic expectations for the club and are never, ever happy! Same people who didn't think O'Neill was good enough...
  3. I don't think selling him is a good idea at all!!! Agreed he has had a poor couple of seasons, but EVERYONE has! We should keep him and develop the squad in other areas and start playing a system that suits the strengths of the team!! Also the guy is a lifelong Villa fan and a club legend (and yes I understand the enormity of that statement!). Just look at the momentous goals he has scored for us! The 2 late, late winners at St.Andrews are enough to make him a hero forever but his goal away at Old Trafford to give us our first win there since '83 cemented it for me! Madness even contemplating getting rid with the lack of talent in our current squad!!!
  4. Can I just ask, and im not doubting your accuracy, where you obtained those wage figures from?
  5. Sounded promising until you mentioned the injury!
  6. General, if todays media stories are true and Randy did infact cancel his meeting with McClaren because of negative fan reactions can I please say a massive thank you to you for bringing this to his attention! I am now excited to see how the board moves forward in this matter (hopefully doing everything to get Moyes! ) Keep the Faith. In Randy we Trust!
  7. General, Please please please do not appoint Steve McClaren as our new manager! This will be a disastrous move for the board and the fans will vote with their feet!!!
  8. **** OFF HOULLIER! Gutted about tonight's performance, but angry that this has happened to our club more than anything. We have gone from consistent europe challengers to the relegation zone in 3 months and the only thing (except milner) that has changed is the manager.
  9. General, It's been a long time since we last spoke! (You may remember telephoning me all the way from the states in December 2007 in order to help me find some Wigan away tickets, which fortunately I acquired through a friend in the end). Can I just say again that I sincerely appreciate the continued time and effort you put into communicating the needs of the fans to the relevant employees of AVFC. Now onto my point... I am utterly disgusted at the standard of the stewarding, policing and behaviour of the away fans at recent games at Villa Park (in particular Arsenal and Manchester United). As an avid Villa away supporter I have been exposed to all kinds of treatment by clubs (including being caged-in in europe), and I cannot think of any ground where fans would be allowed the same freedom next to the pitch as away supporters at Villa Park get. It's bad enough conceding late goals but having to watch away supporters celebrate on OUR pitch is rubbing salt into the wound. The worst part about this is that some of the offenders jump over the advertising boards, celebrate, and then manage to escape the police and the stewards before jumping back into the crowd without punishment. United fans did this after BOTH their goals a couple of weeks ago (whilst I note its not the first season their fans have encroached onto our pitch) and several Arsenal fans did it today after their final goal. I understand you cannot stop opposition players running over to their fans to celebrate a goal, but you can stop the fans reacting as they have. Ways to stop this kind of behaviour could include: - More stewards/police deployed in this area of the ground being ACTIVE. Not just standing around watching the game for free. Make them do their job. - Stewards located on the fans-side of the barricades in order to stop them jumping on the pitch. - Install another set of boardings for the fans to be kept behind. This will create a type of 'channel' between the fans and the advertising boards where the stewards will operate (similar to what is in front of the lower holte) - Cut their allocation repeatedly until this stops. We have had our away allocation cut at grounds such as Sunderland for minor infractions such as persistent standing, so why doesn't this happen at VP? Sorry for the negativity of the post. I hope that you are enjoying your holiday weekend with your family! Be Prepared. UTV.
  10. Love! Had him on the back of my shirt last season!
  11. Sorry, but i'm not going through the 36 pages of this thread to type this message but I will say this. Whoever comes in out of the rumoured candidates, I will back them 110%. BUT, if it is Gareth Southgate I will probably shout abuse at him (not the players) for 90 minutes home and away all season til he does one. Note: Immature I know, but his comments when he left us have stuck with me to this very day. He thought he was bigger than the club, and now wants the managers job? **** OFF
  12. Gone for the Cards tonight on the moneyline due to the fact that their pass O is suited to exploiting the Steelers zone D. I know Ward is back for the Steelers but how effective he will be remains to be seen. The emergence of a cardinals D during these playoffs will be the swinging point, but I dont think their running game of James and Hightower will be that effective! Looking forward to watching it, having a superbowl party down in town with the rest of my team (I play for the Leeds University American Football Team - Leeds Celtics ) !
  13. General, not a question, just a massive thank you for all your efforts to get me to the game today. To fill everyone in, I posted on this thread over a week ago asking if the General knew of any way that i could get a ticket to the Wigan game, as due to many reasons i had no chance of getting one before they sold out, and have hardly missed a game all season. I expected there was little chance that anything would be available, but that did not stop Mr. Krulak from obtaining my phone number on here, and passing on my request to the consumer sales department to see if there was anything they could do. Yesterday evening i received a phone call from the head of consumer sales department (who took time out from a trip to Austria to call) explaining that they would try everything they could, to ensure i got a ticket to the game. To my complete and utter shock that call was followed by one from the General himself who explained he had passed the message on and he hoped that i would get to the game, and that the club were doing everything they could do to get me there!!! Unbelievable! In the meantime, a mate of mine had accquired a spare ticket for the game and kindly sold it to me, solving my crisis. I received a call this morning from the consumer sales department explaining they had had no luck yet in finding me a seat, but were just about to phone wigan and try and get something off them. At this point i explained i had found a ticket for the game and hopefully saved them a lot of hassle in ringing the wigan offices. I made my way to the game, gritty performance, 2 goals and another 3 points away from home. Great result. This message is to yourself General and also to all the staff at Villa who were involved in trying to get me a ticket. The fact that you took the time out of your busy schedule to pass on the message and then personally call me(and im assuming, due to the poor reception, all the way from America!) meant a great deal and i cannot say thank you enough. You're a credit to yourself and the club sir, and im honoured to have spoken to you. Hope to meet you one day and chat to you at greater length! Cheers again, Mase - Villa Till I Die
  14. General, My christmas is going to be a little bit sad this year, as my search for a single wigan away ticket is still proving fruitless! I am willing to pay over the odds as i have hardly missed a game this season and spent a lot of my hard-earned money (which is quite hard to come by seeing as how i'm a student!) travelling the country watching the villa, and dont like missing games! Do you know anyone who may be able to offer me a spare? Merry Christmas to yourself and all staff at the Villa and here's to a successful new year!!!
