FIFA Corruption

I think the FA deserve a massive amount of credit. It's been years and years of us crying foul and so many other nations just acted like it was a conspiracy theory, the FA didn't back down from their opinion and it is very much looking like they were right.

next election maybe Hayatou runs with the same agenda and gets all the votes that Blatter got. What happens then? the European nations go off and cry foul again

Ironically Hayatou is corrupt and was actually put forward by UEFA to oppose Blatter in 2002 :D

sad day for football, he was a great leader of FIFA and people just dont realise it yet. Platini has done worst things for football in FFP yet people will be happy if he will be made FIFA President. If UEFA has their way they will have a monopoly on football again so the other continents cant develop the game just like before Havelange took over

I can't believe you seriously think this... Surely you're joking right?

Great news, but one man does not make an entire organization like FIFA. A total overhaul of their methods and philosophy is needed from the ground up. Total transparency is paramount for any meaningful change.

Blatter knows he's a criminal and the jig was up, so he's going to try and slither away a fat, rich man. But if the US can get one of his flunkies to talk, maybe extradition is in the cards. I'd love to see him in handcuffs.

Figo for President!

Qatar re-vote!

why not? He brought the World Cup to Africa for the first time for example and that was one of his goals for taking office in 98 before even the Olympics have been to the continent. He also didnt kiss the arse of the establishment and put UEFA in their place on many occasions

Granted he made mistakes but what politician hasnt, If honest id prefer Blatter over FIFA than Dyke, Scudamore, John Delaney or Platini who are hopeless administators and care less about the fans than Blatter. Dont remember him suggesting 39th game for example

What about all the corruption that happened on his watch?

Great news. Must be some dirt on him that was about to come out

Blatter knew exactly what he was doing cosying up to corrupt nations. There is no way a vote from a country like Chad or Sudan should be worth the same as a vote from France or England or Brazil.

So this must mean that shits about to go down with Blatter. An ego the size of his, there's no way this isn't the case... surely?

Which would surely mean that the Qatar bid at the least was because of corruption, they have to be banned from international football for a substantial time and have 2022 taken off them?

You bring UEFA into every argument, why on earth do you think we regard that horrible behemoth as some sort of sweet alternative in this?

The fa did what every other nation did whilst bidding for world cups going back decades, cosy up to the voters, take them out for dinner, pay expenses for dinners, arrange money spinning friendlies (like v Trinidad and Tobago) and grease the wheels in our favour, no doubt about it the English FA did things to being the world cup here, but other nations went far and above what we did and it will come put inthe open now hopefully.

Blatter isn't solely to blame but come on, this is a man who stood by and watched the men below him vote for Qatar to host a world cup, **** qatar! And said nothing untoward was going on?

FA have been at it longer than 2018 bid.

What, ignoring corruption whenever it suited them? Yeah, I agree. That's my point.

Unless you're saying that they've been fighting FIFA's corruption (rather than partaking in it) for any longer than the time since the bid wasn't successful. In which case, I'd be keen to see what examples you have of it.
