Young is my favorite player of that era, easily.

One of very few Villa players during the 2000 that had IT.

Loved watching him play for us. He was actually exciting rather than just solid.

Don't blame him (or Barry or Milner) for wanting out when they did. They simply had more ambition than the club did. Such moves will seldom be smooth with the fans and that dive didn't help.

Still I really like to have him back, but that will obviously never happen.

Everytime he got the ball you got to your feet as you expected something to happen. Also at freekicks and corners the anticipation of a perfect ball whipped in and Carew, Laursen and Mellberg all charging in to attack it.

One of my favourite moments of recent times was that game at Everton and his last gasp winner.

Me too that was magnificent

Strange to think he's been at Utd for 2 season longer than he was with us.

Less appearances for United though!

Was the united move better for his career? He switched to a new position and he consistently gets about 20-25 appearances a season for United across all competitions.

For us, he was getting close to 50 appearances a season, and we didn't have champs league.

He also no longer is really considered for England whereas with us, he was always called up.

Money wise, I am sure he is doing very well.

Absolutely.  Probably my favourite game ever - given the circumstance and timing etc.  We were getting battered by Everton too from recollection - literally a matter of time until they equalised, which they did, and then.... :D

I was screaming and bouncing around like a kid in front of the TV.

Probably the last time I was that exited about a goal.

I'm rapidly becoming jaded and less passionate about football, both Villa, Sweden and everything else. Comes with age I guess.

But that goal took me back to when I was 15 again.

Also it's like the only time I can remember us ever blowing a 2 goal lead late but then winning 3-2 with the last kick. Being 2-0 up and losing 3-2.... Too many to count. I can only name about 3 times we've even scored an injury time winner in the last 15 years. That's why it was so special especially with our competitive rivalry with Everton at the time.

Longer than 15 years ago (23 years now... where does the time go?), but I remember running around the house with sheer relief at the climax of this game.

On topic, I hope Manchester United don’t win the league.

Young was one of those players who just had to play all the time.

Even if he was wank for 89 minutes he had that magic that could produce something in that remaining 1 minute.

Really exciting player for us.

Its a shame really that he didn’t go to a club where he could be a regular. Feels like he slipped off the radar a bit once he went to United.

He's sort of become a utility player for them. Plays left back now and also played left wing back under Mourinho and LVG.

Go back ten years and we had some really good characters and tactically strong players at the club. These players have also been regulars under world class managers.

If you look after they left Barry was a regular under Mancini and Capello for England, Milner also got his games under Pellegrini and Mancini in a wider midfield role, Young has played all over the place for LVG and Mourinho.

Even Delph is now getting a run under Pep at left back.

I didn't watch the game but Young was getting a bit of stick on the radio this morning.

They were saying that inspite of getting a warm reception from the Watford fans, he gave it the big one cupping his ears to them after scoring.

Watford fans must've been booing him, hard to believe he'd have reacted like that if they'd applauded.

The streak is over!

Man Utd's FA Cup 3rd round game vs Derby has not been chosen for live TV coverage in the UK.

The first Man Utd FA Cup tie in 13 years (58 consecutive ties) that won't be on live TV.

Don't get how Mourinho has Rashford as set piece taker for Man U, he's really not very good at it at all.

I agree, clubs the size of United should have proper specialists for these jobs.

Played to maintain an unbeaten home run rather than trying to close the gap on the leaders and their rivals.  Classic Mourinho.

Absolute gulf in class between Guardiola and him.  Absolute gulf.

Yes victory for football today!

Yup.

He's lost that thing, whatever it was, that made him "special".

Guardiola has the same edge on Mourinho as Mourinho has on Wenger. Almost always the same outcome when they face each other.
