The Randy Lerner thread

CI

Recommended Posts

RANDY Lerner has given pep talks to the players on his regular visits to meet with Alex McLeish and watch Villa train at Bodymoor Heath this season.

Lerner has only attended a handful of matches at Villa Park this campaign because of his family and business commitments back home in America.

But the billionaire chairman/owner is often at the training ground to talk with McLeish and the players, including three visits in the past month.

Lerner, chief executive Paul Faulkner and McLeish have been plotting Villa’s summer squad rebuilding plan, despite the recent struggle for results.

And captain Stiliyan Petrov revealed Lerner has been passing on upbeat messages to players and Bodymoor staff about the future direction of the club.

“He has been to training quite a few times and he’s been in a good mood,” said Petrov.

“He’s tried to give positives to all the members of the club, we hope that this year we will be comfortable and next year we hope we will kick off with a better start and better season.

“At the end of the day we have a chairman who is trying to run his books, he knows what is right and wrong.

“If you have good players, new players coming in it is always a help but if not we just need to deal with it.

“We don’t complain, we just get on with it and try to do our best for the club to try to get them as far up the table as we can.”

Strange if he's over as much as that, why hasn't he attended many games?

This is just becoming too bizarre to be real, maybe I just need to switch off from the Villa for a few games, a few weeks....and then come back! Just feels like I'm watching and reading some book from an upside down world and it digs into every core of my thinking. Seriously what is going on? Just waiting for somebody to jump out and say 'you've been Punked'

I read that Houlston and the article states he's also been across 3 times in the past month - if he can make the training ground, why not the game itself?

I understand Randy's having a tougher time, personally and financially but he's really become more of a silent partner than an owner!

If only he came to games, he'd see what a mess AMc is making of things -

If the only thing Randy sees of each match is an edited version provided by the club, he's (luckily for him) going to miss a lot of the poor play by us under the guidence of AMc.

but maybe he knows that and is just burying his head and hope it all gets better.

maybe has custody of kids on the weekend and child services would probably think its cruelty if forced to watch Heskey play for 90 minutes

Randy doesn't need to go to the games to see how shit we are. He just needs to look at a combination of individual game stats, league position, falling attendances and overall season stats to see just how amazing we have been under McLeish.

However, if neither Faulkner nor Lerner give a shit about the football standards at our football club, and solely want to run Aston Villa FC as a business then that's fine. I will just have to go back to watching Cheltenham Town every week instead of wasting any time/money watching our great club go nowhere.

Randy was just hoping it was all gonna work out, by selling all of our best players, Young,Milner,Downing,Barry to name a few.. Its stupid to think that selling your best players will make you move up the league. **** of Lerner. you have taken us as far as you can. Thank you.

Pep talks huh..

Well Randy, you can talk the talk but can you walk the walk?

(stupid question - we've all seen the answer to that the last few years!)

Nevermind pep talks, time for you to show some bloody pep!

RANDY Lerner has given pep talks

OMGZ Randy's been talking to Guardiola. McLeish out.

It's actually Lerner has Given pep talks.

He's actually been telling Shay to come out more on crosses.

If Randy is worried about money good god i,d love to see his face if we get relegated.

I suppose he's that clued up on soccer that he's probably not even bothered looking into that yet.

Wasnt there rumours that Randy was "against" relegation?

I know they were denied by the club but it explains alot IMO..

What another load of PR spin and bollocks from AVFC - how about giving the fecking fans a 'pep talk'?

I agree. Not going to happen though.

The fact is that of course Aston Villa IS a business and should be run as such. just like Daniel Levy at Spurs manages to do so well. Randy's business skills are baffling however. I believe he's recently spunked a shit load on the Browns (that's a weird sentence if taken out of context....), but seems quite happy to alienate the paying fan base here at AVFC, thus ultimately hitting himself in the pocket. Missing out on places in the league costs us money too, so not sure what the 'Eck his game is!
