They may as well not bother, except that will only increase the pressure that theres no communication from the club and the ownership is distant. Maybe, but it's hard to say for sure what has prompted this statement. Perhaps it has been on the cards for a number of weeks, or it's in response to the game on the weekend, or the fans arguing with Richards/shouting abuse at the players as they boarded the bus, or there's some news to tell us, or it's just a total coincidence. But even if there's only a 1% chance it is because of the threat of protest, because of the shouty bus guy or Richards blowing his top, all of it is/was worthwhile. ANYTHING that rattles his cage at this point is a bonus. ANYTHING that makes him a more enthusiastic seller.
