It's like it's a compulsion with him, He must have caught it from his sponsor, Vladimir Putin

George Santos owned no rental properties

Still the bigger mystery, that fellow Putin shill Tulsi Gabbard didn't even touch on (unsurprisingly) is where did he get all his money from? He went from earning $55,000 per year to a multimillionaire almost over night

Don't be fooled by Gabbard, she's trying to bury him before the really awkward questions start to be asked. She's not doing that for America

Guess we'll get a summary before long

Quote

Six years of Trump’s tax returns are now public

Six years of former President Donald Trump’s federal tax returns, long shrouded in secrecy, were released to the public on Friday by the House Ways and Means Committee, the culmination of a battle over their disclosure that went to the Supreme Court.

The returns – spanning the years 2015 through 2020 – were obtained by the Democratic-run committee only a few weeks ago after a protracted legal battle. The committee voted last week to release the tax returns, but their release was delayed to redact sensitive personal information like Social Security numbers.

CNN is currently reviewing the tax returns.

Will the republicans find their John Major 😂

Such a pity that similar "chaos" cannot erupt in the senate. Far too much money/power there to allow that to happen. This is not really all that big event though for those in other countries where coalition government shenanigans are an all too regular occurrence, however.

It sounds like he’s already lost ‘bigly’ in the first attempt at voting him in.

It’ll be interesting to see how this resolves itself over the next few ballots as it seems they are all so far apart I can’t see a way forward and I don’t know what happens if it can’t be resolved. Does anybody know? if nobody can get a majority after X amount of ballots, what happens?

It's the US so the constitution probably has something about a duel with revolvers.

The Democratic candidate got more votes than him. They should just let the Democrats retain the speakership.

Things like popular vote are not classed as democratic in the US 😂 much better having electoral colleges, ranked voting and only the majority in the house can win even though the democrat got the most votes for speaker.  Doesn’t matter the gop can’t get their house in order, this has to go on until one gop wins. So forget things like popular vote that’s just fantasy stuff.

Is this a rule? Is it not theoretically possible for someone from the minority to be speaker if they get the majority of the votes (not just most votes/popular vote)?

I am sure no republican will ever vote for a democrat these days, but maybe it was possible in the past?

edit: apparently it is just getting 218 votes. Jeffries is currrently on 212, McCarthy on 203.

You need to have over 50% of the voters that turned up for the session. The actual number required depends on how many turned up to the session to vote.
