Liverpool, as much as I don't like them, will not be any lower than 8th. No chance of teams like Sunderland, WBA or us coming above them. They still have quality players such as Suarez, Agger and Gerrard on their books even if they do lack depth.

Gerrard is shit. They are a better team without him. Suarez will not score the goals they will need to get top half. They are a significantly weaker side than last year, and last year they finished 7 points above Norwich in 14th.

There is an incredibly good chance they will finish in the bottom half this season...

Gerrard so shit he was our best player at the Euros, just a couple of months ago? Suarez is a quality player but admittedly not a great goalscorer, needs someone to partner him who is a 20 goal a season man. Don't see them as 'significantly' weaker, they've not lost many players from last year.

Suarez is not the top quality player some Liverpool fans believe him to be. Quality defenders now know to push him away from goal and he simply doesn't have the ability to pass the ball back into the box in his armoury. Watch how many times he gets lead wide of goal and... nothing. Premier League defenders have him sussed now and with even less support than normal he and Liverpool are going to suffer this year.

Carragher should have retired 3 years ago, even the Ark Royal, which turns faster than him is being sold for scrap

Gerrard if he's fit still has a part to play

England as a team were absolutely woeful in that competition and did not deserve to qualify for the knockout stages. Gerrard may have been the best of a bad bunch, but that's no mean feat.

Liverpool have looked like a much better team with Lucas in the middle instead of Gerrard. Unfortunately the Liverpool fans think he's 'one of their own' and will continue to worship him right up until he is hobbling along the touchline with a catheter hanging out of his shorts. And they made death threats against him a few short years ago for that privilege...

Luis Suarez has scored 16 league goals for Liverpool. That's about 10 per season average. No better than Gabby then.

And, with a four-month transfer window just closed, they have rid themselves of one of their best, albeit underrated attacking players in Dirk Kuyt, a goalscorer in Andy Carroll, an impact reserve in Maxi Rodriguez and the supposed £21m solution of 2 years ago, Fabio Aurelio. Combine this with the losses of Yossi Benayoun and Raul Merieles the summer before and that is a lot of attacking flair gone and not replaced.

This sums up Liverpool for me - they have put religious faith in an average player for whom they cannot find a suitable partner. On his own, he is average, and will not provide the goals that Liverpool will need.

Don't see them as 'significantly' weaker, they've not lost many players from last year.

From the list of players above, I beg to differ. They have lost a lot of decent players in the last 14 months, which they have failed to replace. It's no surprise to me that they are failing to score goals. It's like Villa losing Young and Downing last year...

Finally people are realising Gerrard is shit hallelujah. He has been for years and since alonso left. People remember his few fantastic moments which are very few and far between and forget the majority of anonymous or woeful games he has.

This just got me thinking:

Gerrard (in his prime), Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia.

Gerrard (in his Twlight), Nuri Sahin, Joe Allen, Radio Raheem Sterling.

That's like comparing Manchester United to Bolton Wanderers...

I quite like Joe Allen and Nuri Sahin.

Gerrard sticks out like a sore thumb in this new system. He's never been a player to play the percentages, he would much rather do an 'all or nothing' type pass. Which is fine when he pulls it off, and he gets hailed as the best passer of all time, but the majority of raking passes he tries fail and Liverpool can't afford to have him wasting possession when he is providing very little else.

That's exactly right when he has been alongside better players those that come off look a lot better because they get converted or turn in to chances. These days it doesn't work he's a luxury that makes the rest of them look worse than they are.

Also, he wasn't old then...

agree with this

and im convinced Rodgers knows this himself but the politics of getting Gerrard out of team is the issue. I think shoehorning him up front would be good as would keep him away from the neat passing, allow him to be more effective and also keeping fans onside
