AntrimBlack
Am surprised Vlaar is getting so much stick on here today, Imo if you guys wanna have a go at a player then it should be Delph as he has been cack this last month and offered feck all protection to Bertrand last night while playing some terrible passes and hitting some crap shots at goal, one of which lead to a City goal. Also watch him for the third goal last night, shocking. Vlaar is a class defender in a below standard team so he is gonna be made to look bad some times. The guy has saved us with his performances many times this season! Very much agree with all of this. Vlaar to me would be Player of the Season.
penguin
I wouldn't say he's really been getting much stick, not from what I've read anyway, just a debate whether he can be considered one of the best defenders we've had in recent times. Doubt anyone would disagree with the fact that he is, without a doubt, a decent player and the best defender we have at the moment. Brumstopdogs
I don't think he is good enough to be the captain of this club.
Jay.P.A
^ I do. Shows a lot more passion then anyone else in the team. When we lose, it genuinely shows when he does an interview after.
Voinjama
I think Vlaar and Guzan are the best captain material player's at the club.

Popular Post SikhInTrinity
McGrath tweeted: "Vlaar leads by example and he isn't afraid of a tackle. I think he could go on to be one of the best players Villa have had at the back for a long time." Think this man would know a bit about CB's don't you.

Adbo9
Ehiogu, McGrath, Teale, Southgate, Mellberg, Laursen, Nielsen, Mountfield, Dunne, Alpay, Staunton............... IMO Vlaar shouldn't be muttered in the same sentence as this lot, probably a few more that escape memory as well........... Vlaar is average at best........... the best of a shower of shit............. that is a high a praise as I can give him. Vastly overrated by the Villa masses. In my opinion of course.
Voinjama
Although I agree with the statement by Mcgrath, we musn't take the words of one man as gospel just because he was a good player. Pele said Colombia would win USA 94, an African team would win the world cup before the end of the 20th century and that Neymar is better than Messi. All ridiculous statements. But yeah Vlaar is good. Edited May 9, 2014 by Voinjama

SikhInTrinity
Yep, and Alex Ferguson knows about managers. Means nothing tbh. Fergie giving appraisals for friends, It is well known that he is friends with Moyes and McLeish. I doubt Ron and McGrath go for a drinking session together do you. Also to add if McGrath had stated that he doesn't rate any of our defence, no doubt it would have been used in this topic. But because he actually rates him it can't be used. On Vlaar, I think he is a lot better than Collins, don't think he is helped at times with the likes of Baker and Clark next to him. For him to get better he needs a competent CB beside him IMO. Zatman
Its no fluke that hes keeping some very good defenders out of the team for his country. but is he? he is probably Holland 3rd choice and their is no other Holland defenders at the moment playing for top teams, think the only other Dutch centre half playing in top 3 or 4 leagues is Johnny Heitinga

Zatman
I like Vlaar I think he is a good defender and one of the better defenders in the premier league since defending has gone shit in recent seasons. Just think we have had better defenders in last 10-15 years
