mikeyp102
I give a **** about the Olympics, big time. However, i don't think it should effect our selection for the Euros, which is a bigger tournament. But once the Euro squad is decided, i think everyone else should be "pickable" I agree on this...I only mentioned Rutland before becuase he (unless by some ridiculous scenarios) is not going to see a minutes action in the Euros...it would be more effective for his career to go to Olympics (where he has a chance of starting most games)
legov
Why are England always so unlucky with injuries.
BOF Posted May 31, 2012 Moderator Share Posted May 31, 2012 I think if we did some digging, England would be no more unlucky than anyone else.
theboyangel
Lampard ruled OUT of the Euros.... Feel for him to be honest, he's had a decent season (again) and this was likely to be his International swansong What makes matters worse is Jordan Henderson will be his replacement  (we'd better not pick up any more injuries or suspensions!!!!) With the loss of Barry and Lampard, I hope Milner gets his opportunity in central midfield alongside Parker.

KAZZAM
My team would be: Johnson-Terry-Cahill-Cole Parker - Milner Walcott - Gerrard - Young Wellbeck Really poor striker options so i went with as many 'game winner' attacking players.

TRS-T
Hodgson has picked too many young players. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 18 Jack Butland - 19 Phil Jones - 20 Danny Welbeck - 21 Jordan Henderson - 21 Theo Walcott - 23 Andy Carroll - 23 That's half of our Olympic squad who are now unavailable for the Olympics Should have picked instead: Adam Johnson - 24 Scott Carson - 26 Micah Richards - 23 Grant Holt - 31 Michael Carrick - 30 Aaron Lennon - 25 Peter Crouch -
MrDuck
Not gonna shed any tears over Lampard missing out, he's given us more than enough shit tournaments already. Would have taken Joe Cole over Henderson though - Cole's had a good season and put in some good performances for England over the years... tons of top level experience. mjmooney Posted June 1, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted June 1, 2012 Barry out gutted.Barry out. Delighted. When he left Villa for City I expressed a sincere wish that his career would crash and burn. I see no reason to change that view now. Hell hath no fury like a Villa fan scorned.

VILLAFC2000
Just looking at the stats. I thought a lot of Zee Germans might be to fatigued to play in the Euros after Bayerns CL run. Turns out a lot of there key players have only played around 40 games. Where as the like of Terry, Rooney, Cahill and Cole have all played around 50. Its a big ask for these players to then peak playing at the Euros when all they probably want is a holiday. The majority of these games are PL - high paced ferocious games played at a high speed compared to the slower pace of the German League. Most countries have winter breaks and play less games. To give our selves the best probable chance of winning. we have to do this. However TV reveue money and the PL will not allow it, this equals bad news for all 90% of fans ( the genuine ones who dont Support City, United or Chelski)

TRS-T
How will a winter break make a difference? They still play 38 games like us.
VILLAFC2000
Only my opinion but we are a long way behind other European countries. England and Portugal are pretty much the only two main countries which do not not have a break. Zee Germans, Spaninsh & Dutch all have breaks they have not done too badly The Germans do not have a league cup, no cup replays and a five week break. Players get a chance to rest tired bones, niggles and tears. You are more like to get an injury when Faitigued. I dont think its a co incidence that England have 15 players injured for this tournament,it could be though. It showed in 2006 - our fittest and best player was Hargreaves when he was playing for Bayern. I dont think they do play 38 games like us - The BL is a nor as ferocious and intense as the PL The christmas games are awsome a break in January could be more benneficail, this has been supported by Ferguson Cappelo Rooney and Walcott There are arguments against it. Financialy i dont think it would bode well with the PL. Clubs could loose a lot of money over Christamas festive period if a break happens.
