Buying a club that shares a city with the biggest club in the world seemed an odd choice. It goes beyond the city too. All the town's immediately to the west of Manchester, which is an incredibly densely populated area, are the same distance from Liverpool as they are from Manchester so the catchment area is cannibalised. They do really well considering, though it will take another ten years before the gloryhunting school kids who picked City because they win everything will have the money in their pocket they need to be able to attend matches. They'll appeal and it will end up being a much, much more lenient sentence. This is just to spook everyone else and cause Citeh some annoyance. At the end of the day they have the full financial might of an oil state behind them and are part of said states international marketing and propaganda.
