brommy
If the vote is NO by just a few percent (say 52:48), I believe the losers will be calling for increased devolution and another independence vote to be held within the next few years. If the vote is YES by a similar margin, will the losers be calling for another vote and if so, will they be heard?
chrisp65
you have to question the utter incompetence of the no campaign it's theirs to lose, and they're giving it a bloody good go
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
'Better Together' may have had history & tradition on their side, but they've always had the losing hand imo. It's hard to argue for the status quo when the Guvmint is run by the Eton boys, when cuts have hit hard across the board, and the dear old NHS is facing privatisation. The best they can offer is more of the same, but with a different shill in charge. Edited September 7, 2014 by CarewsEyebrowDesigner

Unless the jocks have only now become sober enough to pickup a newspaper and found out the Tory party have been calling the shots since 2010 , there is nothing new to suggest the "no" lead has anything to do with what school Cameron went to It's probably more to do with Darling and Brown speaking on behalf of the no campaign
Popular Post villaajax
To be fair, the Tories aren't speaking up for the No campaign because they know it would cause a 'yes' landslide.
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Last minute bribery is a clearer indication of where the momentum is than any poll. In my mind, there is one knockout blow available to Better Together, and that is to pay Tony Blair a few million to come out as a Yes man. Xann
One of the most depressing things about this is that it's not the union that's broken.

Indeed you have the Tories who can't say anything and a bunch of Labour failures in Darling and Brown on the No side.No wonder it's losing the PR fight.
villaajax
If Scotland do vote yes, on the plus side you would probably be able to buy a huge chunk of land for a pound.

Same goes for every failed State, doesn't mean you'd want to live there..
mjmooney Posted September 7, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted September 7, 2014 you have to question the utter incompetence of the no campaign it's theirs to lose, and they're giving it a bloody good go Absolutely this. Before this campaign got going, every time there was a poll on what Scots considered to be their main priorities, independence was WAY down the list (typically 15th or 16th). You'd think that would give the NO campaign a pretty easy task. But it's been disappointing how easily people have been swayed by an emotive and flaw-ridden YES campaign. As I've said before, referenda are a thoroughly bad idea, except for relatively trivial issues (e.g. national anthem). For anything serious, complex and consequence-laden, they should be banned.
PieFacE Posted September 7, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted September 7, 2014 I want them to vote yes 'cos it would be quite interesting to see how it all plays out for them. Would they get in the EU? (would they want too?)

(would they want too?) Salmond seems to think they can easily join the EU the SNP line is they want to be in it. The people themselves are all over the place some want to be in the EU , infact some have said they are voting Yes as they think the UK will leave the EU and they don't want that. Some migrants up there have said the same the same...On other hand few months ago on Question time when the issue was raised the SNP person said yes for EU and the audiance member didn't want it as didn't want too much immigration taking Scottish Jobs.. Hmmm... you'd think they would have a clear plan if they do leave the UK in terms of whether they will join the EU or not. Surely whether they stay in the EU or not will play a huge part in people's opinion on if they should leave the UK?
