This thread is funny...

It's not painting them in a good light is it, they seem to be like SHA fans.

Hopefully they keep Frank on a little longer, because the board don't seem to know what to do. They have tough games coming up too.

They do play the Small Heath role in Liverpool. They have some ‘interesting’ fans in their mix.

I think we were all just worn down. It started pretty much in summer 2011 with McLeish coming on so it was a full five years at prem level of terrible results in league and cup, terrible manager selection and bargain basement signings being heralded as world beaters.

Ironically we had that protest v Everton when the ground just emptied at 75 minutes and then after there was individual booing for likes of Lescott so I imagine that wasn't great.

I'm always amazed teams don't just bus in and out and park their cars at the training ground. Everton will probably do that from now on.

Wouldn't that be more of an obvious target? The best way would be to helicopter out, in 1975 Saigion kind of way.

Yeah but at least Everton have a legitimate claim of being the bigger team before Shankly turned up. Blues have always been a distant second. Or third if you could geographically confused Albion.

I would really like to see this lot vanish down the plughole. Every Everton I've ever met has been an arsehole and the fans' expectations seem to be completely at odds with the actual quality of the squad and manager. They've wasted so much money over the last 8 or 9 years.

I think they are. Last season they scrambled safety on last Thursday of the season. They needed 9 home wins to do that. To equal that number they need to win 7 of their last 9 at Goodison and they still have to play Arsenal, Man. City, Spurs, Newcastle....and us (given we have a great record v them since we came up).

Still to equal last season's two away wins aswell and got to visit Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man. United etc...

I can't see them winning more than 5 games even with new manager so with a few draws that will get them to 33-34 points. When you think Wolves and Forest are firmly on upward trajectory now and Southampton may go on a run aswell dosen't leave that many other teams to have realistic chance of finishing above.

Disagree, their squad quality is better.

Starting 11 is something like

  1. Pickford
  2. Patterson / Coleman
  3. Tarkowski
  4. Coady
  5. Mykolenko
  6. Onana
  7. Gueye
  8. Iwobi
  9. Calvert-Lewin / Rondon / Maupay / Gordon
  10. McNeil
  11. Gray

Ours when we went down was something like this:

  1. Guzan
  2. Hutton / Bacuna
  3. Richards
  4. Lescott / Clark
  5. Amavi / Cissokho
  6. Gueye
  7. Westwood
  8. Veretout
  9. Gabby / Gestede
  10. Ayew
  11. Sinclair / Gil

Similar in midfield maybe, but the defence and attack options are much better. And they have a much better points tally (they're only 2 points off 14th).

I think they've just got a terrible manager who doesn't know what he's doing. Still a poor squad that deserves to be in a relegation battle, but it's salvageable. Whereas I don't think any decent manager wanted to touch us with a barge pole.

I think the main similarities between them and us when we went down emerge from how the way the club has been run has started to affect things on the pitch.

Huge sums of money wasted, managers sacked regularly without any succession planning, leading to a disjointed squad on high wages and low motivation. Then you have the disconnect between the fans and the club hierarchy, which inevitably starts to affect the players by making the club into a toxic place to play football.

No matter the quality of your squad, those factors combined will inevitably start to have an impact. I think they're probably down tbh, we know full well there's only so many years that you can circle the drain before it catches up with you

Yeah I just think they're at an earlier stage in that drain circling than our relegation season. More like our side the previous season, when we still had Benteke, Delph and Vlaar. There's every chance Everton still survive.

I think you're probably right there, although IMO the overall quality of the league is much higher these days, so you perhaps get fewer opportunities to get yourself out of danger

For sure. I think one of the survival specialists could probably keep them up with the players they've got. Lampard is not a very good manager.

Definitely. Should have been gone a while ago tbh and made a pragmatic decision to bring someone more suited in.

They could do a lot worse than Dyche, although their fans would probably be up in arms about that
