The_Steve
Credit to Houllier for bringing Gabby on and sticking with the lads who had an excellent second half. Bent looked lively, missed some good chances but his goal should have counted. Young, Walker and Downing played really well, Wayne Bridge was shocking today so no surprise most of our good play came from the wing. Great forward running by Walker. Shaky at the back but some timely tackles from Collins, NRC was a beast in the second half. Well done lads, deserved win. Huge 3 points.

OutByEaster? Posted April 16, 2011 Moderator Share Posted April 16, 2011 Do performances bring results or results bring performances? No matter, we're starting to develop a bit of confidence, we were excellent in that second half and we thoroughly deserved to win. I think we're now safe. Young was excellent today, Bent was at his best when we were bad, fair play to him for keeping us going in the first half. It's still not quite right, but when it clicks we're a good side. foreveryoung
HOULLIER IN! What can you say really? Houllier brings on Gabby and he gets the winner. It should have been 3-1. We had a goal disallowed that shouldn't have been (admittedly, they should have had a free kick on the edge of the box.. but what did they do with that freekick near the end? ) Friedel - 7 L Young - 7 Collins - 6.5 Dunne - 7 Walker - 6.5 (he had some lapses but also some excellent runs forward, just needs to work on his crossing) Petrov - 6.5 NRC - 6.5 Ash - 8 Downing - 7.5 Bent - 8 (an extra 0.5 for the goal) Heskey - 7 Subs: Gabby - 7.5 (an extra 0.5 for the goal) Houllier - 8 3-1, did you forget Green had some quality saves.......... 4-1 at least! theunderstudy
Bent was fantastic, we deserved three points. We came from behind, and we won away. Goal disallowed but hey ho. We're up to 9th baby, and we're safe now I think. Up the **** Villa. All we need now is a clean sheet win away.
ender4
11 shots on target, 10 shots of target. top half of table. coming to win from behind for the first time this season. sort out our defence (which was still very shaky), and we could be a very good team. onwards & upwards. VillaRoy
West Ham have been good at home lately, bar the comeback from Man Utd. Fantastic win, dominant in the second half, should have had that disallowed goal, and the scoreline certainly flattered the Hammers. We played some really nice football. 2 up front is working lovely. Ashley Young was mesmerizing today, as was Bent. All out attacking players played extremely well, and our defense did well bar the shaky start. Up the Villa! Come ON!
