RussG
General you and the rest of the board are a disgrace, at least with Doug we knew what was going on, that's not to say we liked it but at least we knew. Actions are needed now or you face a real revolt from the people that really matter at AVFC, the fans.
shambles
From the Guardian: It is, of course, easy to see why Downing is attracted to moving to Liverpool. As well as the chance to line his pocket, he is joining a club that appears resurgent under Kenny Dalglish. They have spent close to £100m since the start of the year and are genuine contenders for a top-four finish. Villa, on the other hand, are sliding in the opposite direction. The appointment of Alex McLeish as manager lacked imagination and top-six finishes are a thing of the past. Whether Villa could have done anything about Downing's departure or not, the reality is that the former Middlesbrough winger has become the fourth England midfielder to leave the club in the last two years. Villa, in other words, are a selling club that serve as a stepping stone for players with greater ambitions. click I hope that article hurts you and Randy as much as it does me General. MikeMcKenna Posted July 14, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted July 14, 2011 I think you will be hearing quite a bit from the Club in the next couple of weeks...from the Manager and from the Board. More importantly, you will see "action" which is the way Randy has always operated...words mean very little but actions speak loudly. Seems like your promise of action was just bullsh*t If Randy Lerner is no longer ambitious for Aston Villa can he please put the club on the market to see if someone else is? villahero
The silence is deafening....it's going to take one hell of a post to get the fans back onside methinks....
Richard
General I have seen one or two comments from fans during the Young and Downing leaving debates which basically go "well what can you do if a player wants to leave what can you do to stop him" and obviously when it gets to the point where a player has expressed a desire to leave the club it is difficult to retain their services. Action to keep them really has to be taken a lot earlier in the player'slife cycle at the club than the end point. So given that Daren Bent has not yet requested a transfer (I suspect one may be forthcoming by the way) can you tell me what action the club has understaken or what things we have put in place so that we do not get to the point that fans say "well what can you do if he wants to leave" with him ? JP1982
General, I am so disillusioned and angry that words escape me! Therefore, can you please pass this message on to Randy and the board? Papillon
It seems it is easier to quit a contract with Aston Villa than it is with any cell phone provider. Extremely frustrated by the lack of fight from the board. Communication is everything, and the board gives us nothing. It is very hard to stay positive when information is nowhere and actions are totally depressive
Risso
General Krulak here: 1. Ralphy. "We are not selling our best players"....that sort of statement is very easy to make 2. stubbo26: Although it may shock you (sad that some will be disappointed with this news), our Season Ticket sales are progressing well. We are right on target. There appears to be many who continue to see progress with the Club and see what we are trying to do for the Club. 6. dundeevilla: Why do players "want out"...are you saying you really don't know the answer to that one? Do you think it is because we are driving them out? That we secretly are beating them at practice? 7. A few words about our Manager....he is doing a great job of bringing the team together. He is meeting with them as a team and as individuals and is stressing the importance of team over individuals. Morale is high and he is helping in many ways that will be important to the Club as the year progresses. I have yet to meet anyone who dislikes him....he knows what he is doing and has gained the respect of the players. 1. Do you not consider that Young and Downing were two of our better players? Most Villa fans do. 2. What does on target mean? How many have we actually sold? 6. Would you not agree that the players want out because they see other teams like Liverpool (who can't even offer Champions League football) as a better bet for their career. 7. There isn't going to be much of a team left to bring together at this rate is there?
symmouk
This - if he hands in a transfer request what can we do? Its crap. Modric is a perfect example of how you deal with it. You come out straight away and tell the fans and the world he is not for sale. The manager says no way he is gonig anywhere. the CHAIRMAN says he is not going anywhere. What happens? Modric is gonna stay at Spurs, and he will honour the contract he signed. Will he play bad? Of course not, he is bigger than that. Whereas with Villa, the CHAIRMAN says nothing. the manager says he isnt for sale, then he says he wants to go and we just roll over and say ok sure. You always say Randy isnt a public person. Well in the premier league, the fans here from their board regularly and someone needs that job. We see chairman and directors from every club talking to papers, Sky Sports news etc telling their fans what is happening. This privacy thing doesnt work anymore, you are losing the fans and fast. There NEEDS to be a PUBLIC figure at the club who talks to the media and does press interviews etc. Not hide behind AMc and Faulkner. What the board needs, is a couple of fans to consult, to give them a REALISTIC view on how things are going - as its seems the board are so far away from reality its pretty shocking. pacbuddies
General, You say that you have never met anyone that doesn't like McLeish. I suggest you get out more. You sir disappear for weeks every time the going gets tough and your boss Lerner is almost as elusive as Lord Lucan. We don't want your fancy meaningless words on a fans forum what we want to see is positive action being taken at the club and a visible plan of continual improvement. All I can see at present is the appointment of a manager with a poor track record and the annual fire sale of our best players. You talk the talk but you don't walk the walk so don't come on this forum spinning us a yarn like some political spin doctor. We are not gullible little children and will be around to support the team long after you have screwed up, had enough and gone.

General Krulak here: I will not be going to Hong Kong but Randy might. His time is pretty compact so it would have to be a quick turnaround for him. Fez1974
Hi General, My lad is having his 6th birthday party down at VP on saturday (please feel free to pop in and say hello)) as well as collecting his new away shirt. I find it slightly disappointing that we will have different shirts. Mine will have Genting (with hopefully a fully intact G) whereas he won't due to the premier league rules on gambling. (As if a 5yr old will be allowed to go into the casino?) Is this something the board considered before choosing a sponsor? Or is purely highest bidder (which of course is understandable). p.s. My lad is currently attracting interest on the football circuit after just a couple of games, but I'd be happy for you to have first refusal and for him to sign a 25 year contract? He said he won't play for anyone else, including Barcelona. Now thats loyalty.
Cracker1234
Hi General, Do we have monkeys running our club? Below is something Mat Kendrick the Birmingham Mail reporter just posted on Twitter MatKendrick Mat Kendrick Villa lodge £10 million bid for Charles N'Zogbia and are waiting to hear back from Wigan #avfc #wafc Full story, tomorrow's Birmingham Mail We had no reason to sell Downing seeing as he had 2 year left on his contract, yet we couldn't wait till we had got his replacement sorted before letting him go? Am I missing something here?
