Been one of the most stressful working weeks of my career so far dealing with demanding private equity firms, various bank internal legal teams as well as external solicitors, while also having to do my normal day job of posting on VT and cover a senior sales directors job as well.

Took a call last week off one of lads thanking me for a Horse I told him to back at Ascot "Highland Reel"

A cocky me replied "Yeah Never in any doubt, loves to get rough and stays longer than the mothering law"

Guess who had come in behind me :crylaugh:

No craic in the woman whatsoever and ain't spoke to me since.

Best thing I've ever **** said! :D

True storey, She's not long started talking to me after she discovered that my offers to a glass of weekly special guest wine was in fact code to my missus to use the **** shite wine and not mine! :D

She may very well be a 'hard work' individual, but a pattern is emerging from your side too :detect:  Maybe she thinks you don't bloody like her :D

Insurance companies and brokers being raided over here this morning over alleged cartel behaviour.  That cheers me up massively.  Only yesterday I moaned on FB about the fact my premium has gone up 30% and 20% in the past 2 years respectively for basically no reason at all.  Yet funnily enough all companies have matched that increase or worse.  words removed.

Things that cheer me up? When companies get it right, in this instance, retailer and courier, the latter in particular. Ordered new petrol strimmer off t'net on Saturday, email this morning to say delivery 3-4pm. Go out, do errands, back on time. 3.01pm doorbell, delivery, efficiency, happy customer.

Slowly becoming my dad, getting excited about new tools. But, note here (and I love you Swedes) but:

1- whoa, 'what is what?' , damn that's some outright philosophy there. I mean, what.... "what IS what?" That's deep. I need a few more shandies to contemplate that one

As far as good manuals go, I can heartily recommend

it really is suited to the idiot and includes a good dose of hippy philosophy (around about page 1 it tells you that you can't fix it until both you and your vw really want it to be fixed, so take time out to really contemplate...

anyway, it helped keep ours on the road 5 years longer than it really should have

and the diagrams are cool, it's actually readable even if you don't have a Beetle

I've got my oily copy 20 years after I got rid of the car.

Looks like an R. Crumb book.

yes, very much 'in the style of'

it was originally just a hand written and illustrated idea that grew sort of organically (in that typical commercialised hippydom way) in to selling millions of copies

it would have first come out late 60's so there would have been plenty of stuff in that style around by then

I've got one of those, too. Brilliant and really helpful. I completely rebuilt 3 beetles using it.

Read a story in the paper today about William overstreet, an American pilot who whilst in a dog fight with the Luftwaffe over Paris flew under the Eiffel Tower and shot the German plane down

how awesome is that, never heard of it before

Now do it with a Fokker trying to blow you to smithereens!

Actually it was a Messerschmitt, and HE was trying to blow IT to pieces.

He did risk the flak, though.
