Mark Albrighton Posted December 19, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted December 19, 2018 Thinking I’d lost my debit card and worrying that someone had been helping themselves to some Christmas shopping before retracing my steps and then legging it to my local co-op five minutes before it closed and breathlessly retrieving it from some very helpful staff. I don't speak Icelandic. Out of embarrassment we had to sit through 20 minutes of it and applaud in the right places before fleeing when the next act was coming on. Please tell me you are in Iceland and not in Smethwick?! 1

snowychap
A free 3kg Turkey Crown from Lidl (they were giving them away at 4pm). Straight in the freezer to be kept for some non-xmas related meal.

Popular Post il_serpente Posted December 27, 2018 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted December 27, 2018 My 14 year-old son gets on a plane for London tomorrow to participate in the New Year's Day Parade with his school marching band. I'm both excited for him and worried. First time out of the country without us. He'll be on a pretty tightly controlled itinerary with adult chaperones, but it's still our baby in the big city across the ocean. Anyone have any advice to pass on to a California boy visiting Ingerland in the winter? Trip coordinators told them to bring warm clothes, but I understand you folks don't wear socks over there? 5

Popular Post il_serpente Posted December 30, 2018 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted December 30, 2018 Watched a live stream of my son's band playing in Cadogan Hall tonight as part of the London New Years Day Parade festivities. Incredibly cool to be watching your offspring on TV live from a foreign country thousands of miles away!

I guess its because I worked the 24th, 27th and 28th and i'm working tomorrow as well. Definitely got the 'Sunday feeling' today.
Popular Post il_serpente Posted January 2, 2019 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 2, 2019 So we got up at 4:00 AM on NYD to watch the London parade. It turns out my son's school band was one of the last ones in the parade, not starting until around 2 1/2 hours into it. They gave us a couple of teasing glimpses of them along the way and then broke away with no further mention. We were getting tired an cranky. Then they got to the grandstand at the end where all bands stop and face the crowd and play a number. And the camera did a closeup of my son's face for several seconds while he played. Exceptionally exciting!
Popular Post A'Villan
Just got picked up to play for a team in Australia's biggest street basketball tournament in February. $10,000 prize money. Not bad for a summer day doing what you love.

At least you won't be following Australian cricket!
Rodders
So much heresy heathens! C.3 hours of bish bash cricket in a lovely ground in the summer. Ok, it's not the proper form of the sport but it's free!
il_serpente Posted January 3, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted January 3, 2019 The thing that cheered me up has now transitioned to a thing that pisses me off. The video of the London NYD Parade came up yesterday, but was promptly blocked in the US because of copyright issues. F**king Warner Media Group. Our son won't get to see the video of himself, nor will family who didn't want to get up at 4:00 AM to watch the parade. My wife wanted to get a screen cap of his closeup to save and is right pissed.
