Tantalisingly possible until you realise a battling collapse is more than probable

And right on cue Crawley out for a duck. He looked nervous from the off. We need to either dig in and go for the draw or treat is as a one-dayer,

Garbage batting yesterday morning, garbage bowling this morning which swung the game back to New Zealand and then this embarrassing capitulation this afternoon. Crawley should be straight out. Bairstow out of this side too but he'll be kept in as he's "the right face". Beyond a farce how we've dropped this game

This is NZ with Southee bowling the worst I've seen him, Jamieson unable to bowl properly, one of the most average test spinners (that's not been in an England shirt), no De Grandhomme, and Matt Henry who is such a bland bowler you forget he's bowled an over... and England have still manage to fold like a cheap deckchair.

If we can get past Boult and Henry without losing any more wickets, there should be an opportunity to build something, especially as the ball gets older, still have Stokes and Bairstow to pull the rate back. Feels a big ask though.

So.. Everything hinges on these two, plus Foakes.

160 to win.  If these two can add 100, I'm confident in one of these two, plus Foakes, plus the tail.

The risk is going too hard, too soon after tea.

Boult is dangerous with every ball and is still getting movement.

It's very much in the balance..  Exciting position to be in on day 5.  Long live test cricket!

Yep, England still in with a shout, ball is getting older, Boult and Henry are going to tire soon due to being over bowled, all looks like a tense finish. New Zealand will be thinking a couple of wickets and they are in with a decent shout as well.

Most likely will end a draw, but both sides going for it until the last, which is test cricket at its best.

Whatever the shortcomings of England as a test team, they're a great 20-20 team and right now they're playing like it's 20-20.
