A gambling company would be boring. Seems like half of the Premier League teams have gambling companies sponsoring them these days.

As has been said, you don't need to worry about that. Randy is no fan of gambling companies.

I suspect one of our other partners might step into the breach. Seat? Cisco Systems was a popular one a while back, do we still have ties with them?

Randy is no fan of gambling companies?

So why have we had two different "official betting partners" in the last two years?

Watch this space, you might be surprised.

ITK?

Bit different to shoving it on the front of the shirt.

I know for certain that 32Red wanted to talk to Villa about extending their deal when it was coming up to expire, Villa for whatever reason were not even willing to talk.

It might have been because we wanted to do the Acorns thing I don't know but it certainly suggests Randy might not be keen on a betting company name on our shirts.

In the current market maybe we can't be as picky as we'd like about whay sponsor we want. Its nice being ethical however we need to bring money in and its likely to be either a foreign company who wants to get into the UK market or a betting company.

Looking at one of our current partners (in this case 188BET), I thought I'd knock up a design utilising a few factors that Nike seem to be using on their current/future crop of kits...

And a link to the original sized jpeg (well the actual illustrator file is A3 landscape in truth) in case anyone wants to read the text...

I'll knock up an away one with whichever sponsors anyone wants, or an alternate home too/third kit maybe?! :D

I've been thinking ever since we signed that deal with Thomas Cook that they might become the new kit sponsor after Acorns.

Will be very angry and bad PR if we get Thomas Cook on the jersey. Rather go sponsorless

Why?

The treatment of their staff in Ireland was a disgrace espcially when one was pregnant.

Also they have Jamie Redknapp doing their ads.

That logo is horrid, it takes up far too much room.

my mate works for a merchant bankers in London City called Standard Chartered and hes running the sponsorship deal. Theyve just signed up with Liverpool but he was telling me Villa were courting them bigstyle to get them to sponsor Villa from next season, but the bank saw Plop as the better bet as they thought following on from a Charity isnt a great PR excercise, so he said not to expect a blue-chip corporation on our shirts next season as theyll all steer away from Villa due to having to follow a charity.

Would it reallt make that much difference, its not like they have taken money off a charity.

its not slur on villa pal, its stating the fact that major corporations who have the funds that we need will not follow on from a charity as it is terrible PR for them

I'm a director of an online gambling company.

Last month one of my business partners was in Hong Kong at a conference dealing with, amongst other things, sports sponsorship.

He was told by a couple of people who work in precisely that area that Villa's shirt sponsorship was being actively touted around online gambling companies - complete with price tag.

To suggest Randy has some ethical objection to gambling companies just doesn't stack up. For a start, his fortune came from the credit card industry upon which the entire online gambling industry relies. He's not going to be a stranger to that field.

Furthermore, as I said, we have had three official gambling partners since Randy has been here - 32 Red, Boylesports, and now 188 Bet. Boylesports had an AVFC branded portal to their sportsbook.

If there were an ethical objection, I am sure Randy would not have done either of the Boyles or 188 deals.

do you know how much Villa would get from a shirt sponsorship then? As an approximate figure?

Still not a fan of the whole two-tone shirt, but thats a cracking design.

I hope we can ask the PL to keep Acorns on the shirt in some manner, evenif that means we end up with two sponsors, front and back, like the C'Ship.

Two sponsors on the shirt isn't allowed in the Prem.

(Unless you want to be pedantic and say the manufacturer is also a sponsor in which case it's not allowed to have 2 sponsors and the kit manufacturer)

Messing around again with Sponsors on kits-

The home with ACORNS as the full sponsor

An away kit (based on Nike's PSG kit. The tiny dot pattern is made up of alternate claret & blue dots)

A third Kit (based on the USA world cup Nike kit. The blue looks darker on the original adobe Illustrator file, and in photoshop than here)
