What a daft rule. What if you actually choose not to score the points as you suspect your opponent may score more again off their next lay?

I'm not getting you there.

Do you play 'muggins'? As in, you get to steal any unclaimed points the card holder didn't spot in their own hand? Ahhh, what a simple way to cause arguments in a peaceful setting

We used to have (maybe still do have) a card game called 'Muggins'. Not standard cards, some specialised thing. I can't remember anything about it except that the aim was not to be the outright loser, aka 'Muggins'. And, as with most card games, I was utterly shit at it, and I was always Muggins, much to the delight of my kids. They still take the piss out of me about it to this day. Oh well, I suppose it made them happy (grrr, seethe, mutter...)

Well, if your opponent played 2 nines in the opening hand of a deal and then opens the second hand with a six and I have a six, there's a good chance I'm not going to play it because I suspect my opponent may have another to make the cards in his hand a twelve. I refuse to take the two points for a pair because it may give my opponent six on the next lay.

I'm presuming he is referring to the "play" stage , rather than the "show" stage

either that or he's never played crib and is just blagging it :)

Nah that's not what I meant. I meant the counting stage, not the playing stage. Once the playing stage is done you do the count.  It's at the count stage where you can muggins.

Ah gotcha. People that can't add up their hand. Don't think I've ever played where that was ever a thing

I'm not passing comment on it's validity as a thing, it just isn't a sport. It's a judged something or other. Anything that involves subjective judging is something other than a sport, that definitely includes making a horse mince and Pans People in Water with nose clips

When you consider that Squash, an actual sport, was turned down in favour of breakdancng then there's something wrong with the Olympics in my opinion

Totally agree. Although it's not a new phenomenon.

Art competitions formed part of the modern Olympic Games during its early years, from 1912 to 1948. The competitions were part of the original intention of the Olympic Movement's founder, Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin. Medals were awarded for works of art inspired by sport, divided into five categories: architecture, literature, music, painting, and sculpture.

Well Russian vinegar is generally 9% concentrated whereas American vinegar is only 5% concentrated so you've got a good point there

Have to make vinegar strikes illegal then.

I said strikes.
