Frobisher
Pedant - its Clare not Claire and she was born in 1968 which would not make her 50 !! (and she lives in the Peak District) I went with what Google says (23rd December 1963). And I don't think anyone has called her Claire.

The_Rev
A guy I work with ran somebody over with a train earlier this week. Turns out the person who died was a massive paedo. Every cloud, eh?
MessiWillSignForVilla
Holy shit! I bet the guy who ran him over feels a bit better now, though it probably still sucks .
Davkaus
Found out this morning that a friend of the family got the door to their family house kicked in at dawn by the police earlier this week. Her husband had been under surveillance for months for child porn offenses. She only married him a year ago, they think he only got with her because she had 4 young kids from a previous marriage. He seemed like such a nice bloke...Are there more paedos now, or does it just get more coverage?
MessiWillSignForVilla
Probably just more coverage and more access to that sort of thing.
The_Rev
Dunno if anybody is looking for a career change, but train driving vacancies are being advertised at Worcester: (link) You've only got a couple of days, but it's good money and secure employment if you get in. The one thing worth knowing is that they are only taking applicants who live within 30 minutes commute of Worcester.

dont_do_it_doug.
£47k is nice money. Not life changing, but it doesn't seem like a particularly "difficult" career path either. No Uni, no arse licking or management stress. There's a tiny part of me considering a move to Worcester!

limpid Posted February 9, 2014 Administrator Share Posted February 9, 2014 It's a shame London Midland are totally shit though. I've given up with them when travelling to and from games. I use them every day, to and from work and in general, they are pretty good. Only a handful of disruptions in the last year. I use them most days. The line from Kidderminster to Snow Hill is good. The line from Wolverhampton to New Street is appalling. I therefore assume this is a Railtrack problem, not an operator problem. The latter line is completely saturated and therefore any issue at all means delays.
StefanAVFC
Lichfield to Birmingham: there is constantly a problem. Match days are enough for me to hate them. After the United game, they put on 2 trains an hour with 3 carriages. That's utterly absurd when the game is a sell-out. Centro used to run match-day specials. hogso
Did some one mention flappy bird in here not long ago? Seems as though the creator has gone full on Kurt Cobain, he just can't handle the fame maaaaannnnn, and has blown the back of his head off with a shotgun. Hm? Oh no sorry, he's just threatened to remove the game from app stores...foreveerrr
StefanAVFC
To be fair I can see his point of view. He made a shitty little game which became massive and is being panned by 'expert' game critics. Edited February 9, 2014 by StefanAVFC

Makes me realise what a waste of time uni is unless you do either a vocational course or are a top class student. Me and most of my mates went to uni and none of us have done that well. One got a first in physics at a top uni, a really clever lad, now is a physics teacher which is obviously okay but he could have done so much more. Another mate got a first in law now is working nights looking after smackheads and low lifes in a probation centre, and another mate got a 2:1 in accountancy and is now doing a basic admin job earning £16k. Yet a guy I know in my year left school at 16 with no gcse's and is now earning £1000 a week roofing. I know a few guys who are sparkies racking it in as well. They told us education was the way to go, guess what they lied. Edited February 9, 2014 by donnie

Turns out that we don't need that many graduates, and we can't all be solicitors and media executives.
