OutByEaster? Posted April 3 Moderator Share Posted April 3 Ah, okay Martinez is ill. If he was well enough an hour ago to be selected, you'd hope it's nothing too bad.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. If it's just this game he's missing then not too much to worry about.

We knew we would lose, but the goal difference is now at serious risk with that line up.

mikeyjavfc Posted April 3 VT Supporter Share Posted April 3 Set up to fail. Shame as it’s a weakened city squad as well so thought we would give it ago.
rodders0223
What did he do, eat a raw chicken breast between the line ups and now. Guy gets ill quicker than my 14 month old
markavfc40
Martinez, Pau, Mings, Kamara, McGinn, Ramsey, Bailey, Watkins (that is 8 players) would all be part of our best 11 for a lot of us and none of them start tonight either through injury, illness, suspension or being rested. I'd say a result tonight, even a draw, would be up there with our best results in a long time given who we have out. 2
NorthEastVillan
Olsen starting!! Changed my mind, this is gonna be an absolute spanking. I'd take 3-0 right now 1
Keyblade
For a game we're throwing, it's surprisingly attacking. Just a midfield 2 with a front 4. Who knows, this might turn out like that cup game 12 years ago.
Leeroy
What’s happened to Martinez? He’s in on the bbc. If he’s ill he’s bottled it as far as I’m concerned. if Olsen is in we may as well throw the game.

Some welcome positivity. I’m looking forward to seeing this set of players, although would have felt more confident with Martinez.

Or can you?

I don't think the goal difference is likely to be a differentiator. If Chelsea win tomorrow, it's hard to see United catching us on points. CVByrne
Keep this to 3-0 and will be a good evening. It'll be about 5-0 or 6-0 though with the shambles we've put out
Indigo
Martinez out through illness so not the end of the world. Teams are resting players all over the place for this round, particularly the sides in Europe. City and Arsenal are in the title race and have benched the likes of Haaland, KDB, Rice etc, so I don't think it's that much of a shock Emery has done similar. It's also worth noting that we could feasibly still be in the game with, say, an hour gone, in which case bringing on Bailey and Tielemans could be real game-changers.
