Will add some height and power to the team….is he any good at set pieces? Either taking them or getting on the end of them?

Good observation and question. He's not a wisp of a player. Very substantial frame. About I really know at this point is that he has four Os in his name. But I'm impressed with his situational awareness on the ball in highlights, and I could see him feeding Ollie and Diaby very cleverly.

Standing at 1.90 m (6 ft 3 in), Zaniolo is a tall, strong, and fast player, who is also a good dribbler. A versatile player, due to his creativity, technique, work-rate, energy, and physicality, he can operate in several midfield positions, and has been used as an attacking midfielder or "trequartista," as an offensive-minded central midfielder or "mezzala," as a box-to-box midfielder, and even as a deep-lying playmaker.

He can even play out on the flanks, due to his goalscoring abilities, ability to create chances for teammates, the breadth he provides, and the attacking threat he poses with his striking ability from distance and penchant for making late runs. A talented player, he was once considered one of Italy's and Europe's most promising young prospects.

So if this guy is a as good as he has been hyped and reaches his potential under EL MAESTRO, then we have a player as good/better than tonali at a cut price!?

get him in!

His peak value was 55m on Transfermarkt so he has talent if we can recapture it here

I’m no expert but iirc, before his injuries and when he was a youngster coming through…. he had been viewed as one of the major talents and one to have the highest potential of Italian footballers coming through…. Chiesa became the main star (outstanding during the Euros) but maybe if Nico hadn’t suffered with those serious injuries….

Needs to rebuild his career and status… we have someone who specialises in such things….

I’d love to see an Italian player at Villa.. as a second generation Italian immigrant who has lived all over the uk after being brought up in Birmingham, I feel that there is something about Birmingham that really suits Italians.. and the Spanish for that matter..

back on topic, I really hope he signs.. and we get Chiesa in next 😀

Absolutely mate… I’m not Italian but also loved Italian footballers/football, supported Italy, obsessed with Serie A in the 90s…

Adored Carbone and was devastated when he left…

It’s time for the next ones… Chiesa is one of my favourite players around… Awesome during the Euros…
