Joey Barton Memory Lane

What a special person he really is, and is slightly Villa related as it involves Richard Dunne.

There aren’t many footballers like Joey Barton. The Nietzsche-quoting midfielder is an absolute nutjob. But even by his standards, the 2005 Man City pre-season tour was truly unhinged. The squad were in Thailand, and new manager Stuart Pearce promised them a night out in Bangkok after a friendly. With the drink flowing freely, Barton – a self-described “angry, articulate drunk” – encountered some Everton fans in the hotel bar. A 15-year-old fan started slagging off one of Barton’s teammates, and in Joey's words: “I could feel the mist start to descend.” The kid wound Barton up even further by kicking him in the shin, leading Joey to smack the boy across the face. Club captain Richard Dunne noticed the fracas and demanded Barton “**** get over there now and apologise”. When he refused, Dunne pinned Barton to the wall with his hand around the midfielder’s throat… Barton recalled, “He was bigger than me and stronger than me, so wrestling was out of the question.” So Barton went back to basics, and sunk his teeth into Dunne’s hand like a rabies-ridden mongrel. The captain – who himself had been drinking all evening – stepped back, his fist now pouring with blood. But before he had chance to exact retribution, Barton rugby tackled him, sending him crashing through a glass coffee table. As Dunne dusted off the broken glass, Barton decided to finish things off and grabbed a pint glass to smash on his captain’s head. But goalkeeping coach Tim Flowers intervened before Barton could carry out his plan. Dunne escaped unscathed, and was marched off to a secure area. That was until rage got the better of him, and he booted a plant pot. He broke his foot and was sidelined for three months. As for Barton, he was bundled onto the first plane home, given a hefty fine and ordered to complete an anger management course. Considering he later hospitalised teammate Osumane Dabo, elbowed Carlos Tevez, headbutted Vincent Kompany, and branded Thiago Silva an “overweight ladyboy”, it’s fair to say the course was a roaring success…

Most likely there was some inbreeding within the Barton family.

Didn’t his brother do someone in with a machete? If I remember rightly, him and two others chased a man through a park and attacked him in a racially motivated attack.

edit: quick google shows he did 17 years for murder after killing a 17 year old lad with an ice pick, for being black. Charming family!

Does the 15-year-old who assaulted a football player or Richard Dunne come out of the story at the top of the page any better than Barton?

Does the 15 year old or Richard Dunne have a 20 year reputation for being a constant scumbag?

People like Barton are a disease. Unfortunately in todays society that disease is widespread.

Dirty little cretin who should have been dealt with a long time ago.

The guy is just a word removed. We all knew he was a word removed, and now he’s just reminding us all of how much of a word removed he really is.
